The Buddhist Council of Niploma is an unincorporated association founded in 1971 with the following aims:

  1. To protect Buddhists from harm and prejudice
  2. To enlighten others on Buddhism and Dharma
  3. To strengthen inter-Buddhist relations
  4. End discrimination of not just Buddhism but all religions
  5. Ensure all Buddhists in Niploma have a platform to represent them

The Buddhist Council of Niploma is split into several levels. At the bottom are the monastries and Buddhist places of worship. Regardless of school all are involved. Each monastry and place of worship elects a Delegate to join the Council.

Currently there are one-thousand two hundred or so Delegates. These Delegates, by acclamation (sound) elect the Elders. There are twenty Elders whom elect the Head by a vote. The Elders and the Head represent Buddhism in Niploma and ensure the goalds are carried out.

With Niploma having up to a quarter of its population Buddhist the Council is important. It is too well respected.
