The Bureaucratic States Aggregated Navy (BSAN) -- also known simply as the Aggregated Navy -- acts as Oglethorpia's naval presence both in the country's territorial waters and abroad. With a personnel of 3,279,500, the Aggregated Navy is the largest division of the Bureaucratic States Aggregated Armed Forces by manpower, supporting some 1,918 ships and 25,583 aircraft.

Beginning as an informal application of old vessels used to settle Oglethorpia, the Bureaucratic States Aggregated Navy was formally created in X576 and has since grown into a formidable defensive force.

The Executive Office collectively holds the title Commander-in-Chief (in actuality, Commanders-in-Chief) during times of war; during peacetime, mobilization of the Aggregated Navy is handled by the Defense Bureau.

The Aggregated Navy today

While in Oglethorpia's past the Aggregated Navy has had more of an imperialist role, currently its theatres of operation are limited to the Tar Pin Sea in the north, and the Brine Sea south of Oglethorpia in the country's defensive interests.

Organization

Serving as its representative, the Chief Primier of the Aggregated Navy reports to the Defense Bureau concerning the manpower, training and equipping needs of the fleet. Carrying out this massive task upon the Oglethorpian fleet is the Administrative Agency of the Aggregated Navy (AAAN). The agency is also responsible for maintaining the readyness of the Aggregated Navy, and in general providing administrative and technical support as well as leadership.

Fleets

The units of the Oglethorpian Aggregated Navy are split up into four fleets. They are;

While the Aggregated Navy's North Home Fleet, and 1st and 2nd Home Fleets are permanently organized, the Reserve Home Fleet exists only during wartimes, which has just surpassed a half century. Currently its assets are allocated to the other three existing fleets; were all the fleets assembled, they would contain 479-481 ships each.

Ships

The current nomenclature for ships in the Aggregated Navy tags BSS before all ship names, standing for 'Bureaucratic States Ship.' The Defense Bureau, after seeing success in its aircraft reverse engineering program, put into place a similar program for the Navy. Thus, all modern vessels in the Aggregated Navy are built by the Whitsall-Egadd Corporation Inc..

Unit breakdown

With its defensive role, the Aggregated Navy is characterized by its small number of aircraft carriers. Due to the larger sea in the south, the 1st and 2nd Home Fleets have a larger force of aircraft carriers. In the case of all fleets, there is an equal number of submarines and cruisers so as not to favor one type of naval warfare over the other. Finally the rest of the fleet is usually composed of destroyers and the various types of support ships.

The following is a general composition of the average fleet;

Strategic value

As stated, the Bureaucratic States Aggregated Navy is geared towards protecting the Oglethorpian homeland from attack; this is seen in the preference given to submarines, destroyers and cruisers in relation to the number of aircraft carriers. Therefore, while the Aggregated Navy carries little global presence, it is a formidible defensive force. The government sees the Aggregated Navy as the first line of defense in maintaining the sovreignity of the nation, followed by the military capacity of the Aggregated Air Force.

Ballistic missile subs make up a minority of the submarines in service, mostly out of the archaic belief in mutually assured destruction.

Major naval bases

With the centrilization of the population into four primary metropolitan areas, Oglethorpia has two large naval bases. They are;
