The Naval Service of Sober Thought is the navy branch of the Community Defence Forces.

The largest and most important warships by far is the aircraft carrier each hundred million of population supports. There are more fliers than sailors aboard this gigantic ship of 70 000 tonnes and 320 m. The aircraft carrier projects air power to distant shores, provides a combat air screen for large embarked fleets, and provides ground attack for large amphibious landings.

The Naval Service's cruisers, which displace 11 000 tonnes and are 180 m long, are the heaviest ships actually intended for surface-to-surface combat. They are well armed against subsurface, surface and aerial threats with: 2 twin 150 mm turret guns, 4 quad surface missile launchers, 2 twin torpedo tubes, 1 quad subsurface missile launcher, 3 submarine mortars, 8 quad air defence missile launchers, 2 twin 40 mm air defence guns, 4 twin 20 mm air defence guns, one anti-submarine naval helicopters and one search and rescue naval helicopter.

The cruiser It can defend itself well enough against submarines, but it is especially capable against aircraft and missiles. It can serve as the flagship of a group of destroyers or frigates operating alone or as a subdivision of a larger fleet. Its four 150 mm guns are ideal for ship-to-ship or ship-to-shore bombardment, so it may be tasked to support amphibious landings.

Marines, nominally part of the Land Service, who are permanently stationed on frigates, destroyers and cruisers are light infantry designed to provide boarding parties, and are mainly armed with 9 mm submachine guns appropriate to the often confined spaces on small warships.

The naval air arm, nominally part of the Air Service, is especially strong. Each hundred million of population supports one Naval Air Division comprised of one aircraft carrier group, a coastal defence group and several helicopter wings afloat on escort and landing vessels.
