Two branches of the Community Defence Forces of Sober Thought, namely the CDF Naval Service and CDF Air Service, cooperate to provide naval aviation.

The entirety of the naval aviation for each wave of one hundred million inhabitants is included in the Naval Air Division. The division's headquarters squadron consists of one hundred fifty all ranks under a Vice Marshal assisted by a Chief Commander. There are roughly equal numbers of signals, operations, intelligence, defence and clerical staff. The division commanding officer controls about 180 fixed wing aircraft, 300 helicopters and 10 750 all ranks.

Carrier Air Group

The CDF Naval Service commissions one aircraft carrier for every one hundred million citizens. A carrier is the permanent base for 20 flying and non-flying squadrons, 90 fixed and rotary wing aircraft, and about 2 400 air crew. Unlike other shipborne air formations, all of the troops are embarked on the aircraft carrier and none are on shore. The CAG it is headed by a Chief Commander because it operates independently of other air formations, although it does report to the Vice Marshal in charge of the overall Carrier Group.

Naval Escort Air Group

This is a theoretical formation only in the sense that each Community escort warship has one or two helicopters integrated into its vessel command. Nevertheless, on paper the wing has 68-86 aircraft (mainly or exclusively helicopters) and about 1 450 all ranks of which about 1 200 are embarked.
