The CNNP

The People's Federal Republic of CNNP is a huge, safe nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 840 million are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. The average income tax rate is 52%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Gambling, and Woodchip Exports industries.

Government officials frequently cut taxes as a distraction from antics with their secretaries, the right to free speech is being drastically curtailed, much of CNNP's computer network is controlled by a rampant artificial intelligence, and high-income earners pay a 100% tax rate. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. CNNP's national animal is the llama, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the denar.

History

Our country started out as a state of many warlords. One of the warlords proclaimed himself emporer of all Abyssia. The emperor was taught and mentored by a young revolutionary simply known as Lenin. To accomplish the ultimate goal of unification, the emperor and teacher recruited a young warrior named Augusto Pinochet (a colonel at the time). Pinochet agreed to lead the armies of the emperor in return that the emperor would grant the new nation a constitution. Lenin agreed, but conferred with his new student, Pinochet, and told him of communism. Lenin said he would write and implement a communist constitution, only because the nation was so backward and was in need of modernization. As promised, Pinochet defeated warlord after warlord, and eventually presented Emperor Haile Selassie II his very own empire. The former colonel (now general and Commander-in-Cheif) awarded the now defunct emperor his very own estate and pension in the new government.

The Communist Era

Lenin had intended for the communist republic to bring the nation up to par with modern standards and with Pinochet directing the military, all was going according to plan. Heavy industry was booming, modern infrastructure was coming, but the nation suffered severe shortages of consumer goods and services. This shortcomings were off set by remarkable progress in agriculture, education, and industrialization. As Lenin grew older, Lenin informed Pinochet that the communist government had run its course after 27 years of power. Pinochet then ordered a new constitutional convention, and again the political skills of Lenin were required one last time. Lenin is known in our country as the Father of the Constitution and we still hold our communist heritage with pride.

The Federal Era

After the writing and implementation of the new and current constitution, Lenin stepped down and retired from politics. The nation voted and elected Augusto Pinochet as the first President of the Federal Republic.
