This article refers to the term Cabinet as it relates to Nationstates. For more general information, please see the Wikipedia article on the subject.

A cabinetis a body of ranking members of Government, generally forming the political executive or the primary part of the political executive of a nation or province.

In some nations, including most parliamentary democracies the Cabinet collectively decides the Government's policy, especially in regard to legislation. In others, especially where a presidential system prevails, Cabinet ministers merely serve as advisors to the Chief of Government. In some nations, the Cabinet is contained in the legislature while in other nations it is a separate body. In Laneria and Adoki, for example, it is unconstitutional for any person to hold a Cabinet position and a seat in the national legislature at the same time.

Members of a Cabinet are usually given either the title of minister or the title of secretary. As a collective body, members of cabinets are referred to as cabinet ministers. The day-to-day responsibilities of most cabinet ministers involve serving as the head of one segment of the national bureaucracy.
