Cachette de Lions parliamentary election, 1999

The Cachette de Lions Parliamentary Election of 1999 took place on May 1st, 1999. The incumbent Liberal Party won a fifth successive government, and increased their seat numbers under new leader Daniel Syzcki. It is famous for having so many Liberal marginal seats which were predicted to swing to the Social Democrats or CPP, yet nearly all remained with the Liberals, whose increase in vote was largely attributed to the new leader, who had taken over a year earlier. In this election, the three major parties all fought with new leaders - the Liberals with Daniel Syzcki, the CPP with Harold Mackintyre, and the Social Democrats with Lauren Fraihelt. The election also an increase in the number of independent MPs, as well as the first Green MPs elected to Parliament.
