Areas and Landmarks

Central Capital

The quasi-financial services centre of the city, often claimed to be the only place in Calumnius where money has any power. Most of the offices of Calumnius's international state businesses are based here. Central is also home to the largest monorail station in the world, during peak hours it is said that a monorail train arrives every half a second.

Capital Park

Capital Park is a large park near the centre of Capital, set slightly to the east. The park is famous for its fortress, one of the remaining icons of the Calumnius Emperors. The fortress was the Emperors' residence in capital for atleast 1000 years, often undergoing extensive reconstruction and improvement. The fortress is open to tour, an exhibit on the dangers of autocracy has been centre piece of the fortress-turned-museum for the last 20 years.

Calumnius Council Building

The Calumnius Council building is a gigantic building several miles across and 126 stories high. It is situated on the sea front and is not far from Capital Park - politicians can often be seen walking in the park, particularly before or after a serious debate. The present building was constructed in 1994, the older building was preserved in the structure as it was a historically significant, it can seen towards the north of the building. The most famous aspect of the old Council building are the main doors where Frederick Hanson was assassinated at the start of the Second Great Revolution. Ghost tours of Capital often stop here and mention the factually spurious claims of sightings of Frederick Hanson's ghost. The main doors are still used during the state opening of the council, but at all other times, the much less grand seafront door is used.

The Monument of Fallen Comrades

This famous monument, built in 1884 to lost Calumnius citizens killed in the two great revolutions and other wars with Calumnius involvement. It is the centre piece of memorial day commemorations. In a nine hour ceremony every member of the Calumnius Council place a personal wreath of flowers on the monument to remind them how decisions made in the Council affect human life.

Industry

Capital is one of Calumnius' most important docks and is the centre of import and export for approximately 10% of the goods that Calumnius trades in. Capital is also home to most of the Calumnius ministries and vast office buildings tower over Capital. Due to its high dependency on workers, Capital is one of the most densely populated areas in Calumnius and The Spectrum.

Politics

The Calumnius government is based in Capital. Capital was chosen for its self sufficiency which it was required to have as a neutral state and also because of its large population.
