Carpathia is seen as one of the shining jewels of the world; yet, is one of the most militaristic and policed social institutions in the world. Controlled and owned entirely by Carpathian Global, Carpathia is the commercial headquarters for the world's largest and most powerful corporations. It now remains a bastion for the corporate executives of Carpathian Global and their families.

History

Carpathia was never a city before the purchase of Nevada in the 1980's from the collapsing United States of America. The location in which Carpathia resides was once a mountainous region of Nevada. However, this changed after Carpathian Global purchased the entire state of Nevada from the U.S. for several billion dollars. After the purchase of the state, Carpathian Global began using nuclear and conventional armaments to clear out a massive track of land in the center of the state. After the destruction of several hundred miles of mountains and foothills, deirradiation technology was used to remove the toxic radiation from the area to begin stage two of construction.

During stage two, Carpathian Global absorbed most - if not all - resources from the prescribed area, causing artificial decertification to occur. This would allow for massive, deserted, flat area of land for which the capital could be constructed. In 1990, construction of Carpathia began when the first holes were constructed for the massive geothermal reactors and aquifer irrigation systems which would be the lift-blood of the city.

Using power harvested from the earth, Carpathian Global began the construction of the fortified city. The Centre was constructed first. The Centre is the massive complex in which Carpathian Global is officially ran. It houses most of the city's geothermal reactors and is completely walled from the outside city. Building outward, the construction of industrial sectors (Sector 01).

Next to be constructed was Sector 02-04. These sectors house the residential districts for which people live in. Included in these sectors are massive, corporately owned and operated apartments, housing for lower ranking corporate members, and the normal citizens. For this reason, Sectors 02-04 are alienated from most of the other sectors.

Third, Sectors 05-06 were constructed. These areas of the city house the markets and commercial areas of the enormous city. Within Sectors 05-06 are local markets, stores, and warehouses for commercial industries. Sectors 05-06 are not walled from Sector 04, but they are walled from Sectors 07-08.

Sectors 07-08 are by far the most protected areas of the city - except for the Centre. Sectors 07-08 are the military districts. Housing corporate security barracks, military bases, etc., these sectors are locked from all of the sectors except the Centre, Sector 01, Sector 09, and Sector 10. This is mostly for protection of the executives and the city itself.

Sector 09 is entirely defensive. Housing the main walls, watch towers, and defensive lines for the entire city; it is paramount that this be the first line of defense for the corporation against enemies from outside the city. Sector 09 is regulated by the Corporate Security Administrative Division and kept secure from civilians.

Finally, Sector 10 resides outside of the walls of Carpathia. It houses the agricultural farms immediately around the city as well as the desert surrounding the city itself. The desert is another key defense of Carpathia. Filled with security and RADAR outposts, it is the sentry position and immediate line of defense for the center of the corporation.

Including these defenses, the entirety of Carpathia - as well as the Nevada Geographic Subsidiary - is under restricted airspace and limited access. Only corporate aircraft are allowed to fly within the airspace owned by the corporation. Aircraft flying over the North American continent have to divert around the area in order not to be destroyed by Carpathian anti-aircraft artillery and aerial defenses.
