Adding a new category

I followed the instructions for adding a new category and adding the links to all my pages that are related to my nationstate. Will the Factbook page be updated automatically or do I need to change something there as well? --172.147.237.205 22:51, 28 Feb 2005 (GMT)

It's automatic. → Fris Θtalk 23:14, 28 Feb 2005 (GMT)
How long will it take to show up? For reference: Category:Malat] --172.169.199.136 00:41, 1 Mar 2005 (GMT)

Fixing ordering

Given that this page is automatically generated, is there anything that can be done to fix the order? When listing the first 200 subcategories it starts grouping them as follows:

1 A B B cont. C

...which seems normal, but then it goes back to A:

A B C D E F H I K M N O R S U W

...and the it starts again at C:

C D E F

...which is a rather bizarre variant on alphabetical ordering... Note that after that point the alphabet continues normally on the next pages. --Safalra 15:34, 1 March 2006 (GMT)

I have no idea why it does that, and to my knowledge can do nothing to fix it. Sorry. Gruen2alk 15:39, 1 March 2006 (GMT)
Perhaps putting the vertical bar followed by the letter after the category:factbook on the subcategory pages will do it?
What I mean is that you can change what section an article is categorised under, rather than it's default category, by including '|' then the letter to be categorised under after it, e.g. [[Category:Factbooks|A]] should set the article in the 'A' category whether or not it starts with an 'A'.
At least, it does as I understand it - I've only ever set things like this to |* in wikicode before.
Also, I glanced over the lists, and a lot of the categories in the 'A' section seem to have more than just the factbook category in the category description: this might have an effect... --Germanalasia 21:15, 3 March 2007 (GMT)
