The city of Chanaud is the third largest city in Sicinia and along with the Borriad city of Acrian controls the important shipping channels out of the Gulf of Semantaria. The city of Chanaud was first founded during the height of the Akaeian Empire, as the port city of Caedentereus. Besides its excellent harbor it was famed for its warm mineral springs, which were reported to have magical healing powers.

In 979 C.E. a collection of Borriad tribes called the Sicinii crossed the strait and landed thirty miles to the east of the city. for more than four years they remained there, held by promises of land and food by the Akaeian authorities. However, after the promises were not fulfilled the Sicinii under their high king Vraelasa attacked the city and after a short, brutal siege captured it. The Sicinii were amazed at the mineral baths built by the Akaeians and renamed the city Chanaud, meaning "Hot Stone".

Always an important port, it has become even more powerful with the ascent of its lord, Comte Peter du Chanaud, to the premiership. With the discovery of land to the east it is now competition with Aristiden as the way stop for commerce across the Long Sea. It is the home of 1st Fleet and rivals Martinique in terms of martime commerce.
