The Socialist Principality of Chardonay is a largely temperate nation bordered by ocean on three sides and by desert on the fourth. This has lead to their remarkably insular history and foreign policy that has only recently begun to change.
Principality doesn't really do justice to the vast tracts of land encompassed by Chardonay; Empire would be more accurate technically, because Chardonay is made up of a number of formerly distinct cultural and geopolitical entities, however, Chardonayan monarchs have always been far more interested in the realities of power rather than the appearance of it, so the name never changed.
History of Chardonay - Up to 200 BC
Properly speaking, Chardonay only refers to the southeastern coastal region of the Socialist principality. This area's climate is comparable to the south of France and it is prime winemaking and agricultural land. By 500BC, Chardonay boasted a surprisingly technically advanced and sophisticated culture, and the governmental system was quite similar to the system instituted by Prince Piotr Ivanov in 1998.
