Charter nation

Charter nations are the de facto governors of the Antarctic Oasis region. Their main job is sitting around and doing nothing, though they do at times brag about being charter nations. The position is mainly a prestige thing. Charter nations do consult on regional business matters, though the region rarely conducts any buisiness; they do carry extra votes in regional elections, though the region never votes on anything. It is the ultimate in cushy jobs.

History

Bucky Cat, Dragons Rider and the Great White Knight were founder nations along with Omigodtheykilledkenny puppets The Valdesian Frontier and No TV and No Beer, but the first three ceased to exist (and moved to another region after being resurrected), and the latter two were deemed unnecessary members and replaced with nations who had established themselves as loyal regional natives.

The Palentine, Unjubbi and Mashtopia were made charter members in late 2005, but the latter two tragically ceased to exist. Cluichstan and Gruenberg were elevated shortly after their arrival in the region early in 2006, and with much fanfare, Kivisto was added a few months later. [1] Sometime that year, Z0S0 was removed for inactivity; Karmicaria was named charter nation toward year's end but did not formally assume its "duties" until early the next year. Iron Felix was inducted in Oct. 2007. [2]

Cluichstan was removed for cause in December 2006.
