The Chief Minister of the International Protectorate of Ad'ihan (French: Premier ministre du protectorat international d'Ad'ihan, Ad'ihan Creole: Primer Minster Protectorat Ad'ihanais) is the head of government of Ad'ihan, usually the leader of the biggest party in the Senate, or appointed leader of a coalition in the Senate.

Role

The Chief Minister is answerable mainly to the Senate. Like most other heads of government, the Chief Minister selects and can dismiss other members of the cabinet, and allocates posts to members within the Government.

Appointment

The position of Chief Minister is an appointment by the Governor of the International Protectorate on the advice of the Ad'ihan Senate, after the Senate passes a resolution backing a certain candidate. However, the Governor has the authority, if he wishes, to select anyone.

Should the Chief Minister choose to resign his Cabinet, he himself steps down, at which point he would become interim Chief Minister until the Senate nominates a new candidate. Alternatively, a Chief Minister can choose to call an election, reshuffling the number of seats in the Senate. The new Senate would then have to reconfirm him (although he may reshuffle his Cabinet), or nominate a new Chief Minister.

Residence

The official residence of the Chief Minister is co-located with the Senate Building in Ad'ihan.

List of Chief Ministers

In the list below, the time served between each election counts as one term, as a Chief Minister must be renominated to a new term if he wishes to continue serving after each election. The interim period between the resignation of a Cabinet or the calling of elections and the appointment of the next Chief Minister is included in the first term.
