The Allied States of Chimeric Regions is a large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 29 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.
The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Social Equality. The average income tax rate is 36%, but much higher for the wealthy. An almost nonexistent private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.
The government is attempting to revitalize a gutted private sector, voting is voluntary, citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked, and children are brainwashed at a young age to accept "Love and peace!" as a way of life. Crime is totally unknown. Chimeric Regions's national animal is the star-nosed mole, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the standard trade unit.
