Ensemble fort, courageux, victorieux, vivant !
Nous ne connaissons ni defaites, ni soucis,
Vive La Chicoutimi !

Ensemble fort, courageux, victorieux, vivant !
Nous ne connaissons ni defaites, ni soucis,
Vive La Chicoutimi !

English

(Cikoutim version)
Cikoutimi, you country of harmony,
Country that love, for which live
French, Baranxtuans, Maranis!
Only for your harmony they breathe!

We are united under one flag, one king, one sky,
Together strong, courageous, victorious, alive!
We don't now defeat, nor worry,
Long live Cikoutimi!

No storm will make you tremble,
No war will subjugate you, my country,
Time was rough, but you were strong, my country,
We will forever shout "Cikoutimi"!

We are united under one flag, one king, one sky,
Together strong, courageous, victorious, alive!
We don't know defeat, nor worry,
Long live Cikoutimi!

(French version)
My Cikoutimi, the country of harmony,
You are my home country for which live
French and Maranis and Baranxtuans!
They breathe just for your harmony !

We all, united under one flag, one king, one sky.
Together strong, courageous, victorious, alive!
We know neither defeat nor worry,
Long live Cikoutimi

No storm will make you tremble, my country,
No war can subjugate you, my country,
Times were hard, but you were strong,
Forever we will shout "Cikoutimi"!

We all, united under one flag, one king, one sky.
Together strong, courageous, victorious, alive!
We know neither defeat nor worry,
Long live Cikoutimi

History

The anthem was composed in 1956 by Oulla Akoutère, and originally consisted of the first three stanzas of a poem by Sophie Maranneglore Lakourse, commonly dated to 1898.
The chorus, howevery, was taken from the 1932 poem "Cikoutimi Ouni" by Carle Toupito Abadri.

The song was adopted as the anthem of the Jontadain province of Cikoutimi in 1962.
After the founding of an independent Cikoutimi, it was decided to make "Cikoutimi Ouni" also the anthem of the country. However, the second stanza was dropped as it made (land) claims deemed not deemed appropriate. It is now often referred to as "the lost stanza".

The Lost Stanza

Chicoutim:
Deu pallentou our plajdè moutana
Twa Marana ilque patriese aplaille
Cikoutima, Alima, Loumima,
Tous drappesou Cikoutimen ouni osse.

English:
Between two seas and from the shores to the mountains
Three Marani people call it home
Cikoutimi, Alimi, Leumi,
All united under Cikoutimi's flag.
