Cir Lor-Ban

Cir Lor-Ban is a non-human whose species is unknown. She was found as an infant by Juerg and Maria Kaelin and raised as their own child. All she remembered at the time was her own name and the name's of her birth parents.

From an early age, it was apparent that Lor-Ban had abilities far above normal, even when compared with paranormal species such as Elves. However, she has never wanted anything except a normal life. While she has never posed as human, she has often attempted to hide her abilities and maintain a low profile. Despite her best efforts, the Danaan Ministry for Paranormal Affairs has classified her as a Class 5 Paranormal and kept her under light surveillance (surveillance involving no direct intrustion into her private sphere) until recently. In May of 2006, Lor-Ban vanished and her current whereabouts remain unknown.

Early life

Although her foster parents never hid her non-human origin from Lor-Ban, they raised her just like any human child. She was brought up in the National Protestant Church and attended local public schools. She lived her early life in the small town of Seifert, Zutern. She largely refrained from using her natural abilities throughout this period because of a desire to blend in.

As she grew older, Lor-Ban discovered that she possessed semi-impermeable skin, preternormal strength, preternormal speed, the ability to create intense heat, the ability to create intense cold, telescopic vision, and the completely inexplicable power to fly directed only by her will.

Cir knows almost nothing of her origins are her people. She does know that the name of her birth father is Lor-Ban and her birth mother Kara U-Tharb.

Personality and character

Cir Lor-Ban was raised a simple girl with traditional, solid values. She is modest, compassionate, dutiful, and loyal. However, she is also insecure about herself and her own nature. It bothers her that her gifts set her apart from, and in some ways above, her neighbors and this concern is what has prevented her from fully using her innate abilities to help others.

Lor-Ban is a romantic and heart and yet she has had only a few serious relationships. She is not known to have ever had sexual relations with any of her boyfriends and, although she doesn't make a big deal out it, has politely told the few people who've presumed to ask that she doesn't plan to do so until her wedding day.

Powers and abilities

Cir Lor-Ban possesses a number of paranormal powers and abilities. She is able to fly under her own power although this is completely unexplained by physics. She possesses preternormal strength and speed, although the exact limits of these are unknown. She also possesses semi-impermeable skin. She possesses preternaturally refined sensory perception, including hearing and vision but not touch, taste, or smell. This can often prove a weakness as she is vulnerable to sonic attacks outside the human hearing range.

It is unknown exactly how Lor-Ban's abilities work. They are believed to be biological rather than supernatural. However, much about her seems to violate the laws of physics as they are currently understood. The exact biological nature of Lor-Ban is generally considered scientifically explainable but beyond current science. Paranormal specialist generally believe that her power is somehow solar in origin.

Lor-Ban has no magical or psionic abilities whatsoever. She is as vulnerable to supernatural and psionic forces as any other mortal woman. The incredible physiology of her species does not change her nature from the point of view of the occult at all.
