Government
Clayton Road is a Federal Republic, made up of six provinces.
The Legislature
Each province recieves representation in the National Legislature, which is made up of two houses. The Parliament is the upper house, consisting of three MPs from each province. The Senate is the lower house, and is made up of 48 Senators apportioned among the provinces based on Population.
The Executive
The President is elected by popular vote. He is the official Head of State, and has only three official functions. Apart from being the head of state, he also appoints justices of the Supreme Constitutional Court, and on the advice of the Parliament, a Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister is the leader of the Majority Party of the Parliament, appointed by the President on the advice of that body. He is the head of Government, the Chief Executive, and Commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces. He rules on the advice of the Cabinet and at the pleasure of the Parliament and the President.
The Judiciary
The Supreme Constitutional Court, also known as the Magistrate General, is made up of seven judges. The Six associate judges are appointed by the President to five year terms. One comes from each province, and the President appoints them on the advice of the Governor of that Province. The seventh judge, the Chief Magistrate, is appointed by the President and serves at-large rather than from a certain Province.
International Organizations
The Federal Republic of Clayton Road is a citizen member of The Meritocracy and Nasicournia.
The Meritocracy
Representation
Prime Minister Scott Ravenspurgh serves as Clayton Road's official representative to the Meritocracy, which is currently in the process of completely rebuilding itself.
The OMA
When the Prime Minister is unable to be in the Meritocratic Administrative District, the duties of Ambassador to the Meritocracy fall to Junior Minister of Foreign Affairs J.C. Carrico. The Office of Meritocratic Affairs is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is overseen by Jr. Min. Carrico. The sole functions of the OMA are to operate as a liason between CR and the Meritocracy, as well to operate the Embassy in the MAD.
Leadership
Representatives from Clayton Road served in the Ministries of Justice, Internal Policy, and Information. They have also held the positions of Deputy Censor for Immigration and Membership Services, Magister Ludi of the Meritocratic University, and Director of the Meritocratic Central Bank. Clayton Road was also a member nation of the St. Alexandersburg Pact, but withdrew when the Meritocracy was dissolved.
Nasicournia and the ADN
In response to the election of Moldavi to the Senate, Representatives from Clayton Road were sent to the region of Nasicournia and to the ADN for observation, discussion, and contribution. This is a recent development that we hope will be fruitful.
