Combat Hornet

The 'combat Hornet' is a high-precision long-range interdiction cluster missile for use in stellar/orbital space, entering into active service with the Commonality Space Force currently.

The 'Hornet' itself serves both as a deployment unit for submunitions, and a command and control node for the deployed submunitions. Typically, an offensive Hornet can be expected to carry twenty-five units of submunitions, although larger designs are feasible.

Submunitions are stowed in the warbays, which are inevitably on the aft of the craft, protected by double-strength superconductive radiation shielding, as well as sealed inside Farraday cages. The cages are split upon ejection of the submunitions from the warbays.

Typical optimum engagement for Commonality combat Hornet's is not yet established, but is suspected to be in the one hundred thousand kilometre range.
