The Reasons

First Delesian War of Independence (1809-1815)

Note: This next paragraph is all about the First Delesian War of Independence, not the Commonwealth-Kreatvye War, but what lead up to the the Commonwealth-Kreatvye War.
It all started back during the First Delesian War of Independence (1809-1815). When King Charles IV (reign 1798-1809) of the Kingdom of Delesa, was murdered and the throne empty, the blame was placed on the radical democratic group called the Delesa Separatists. Although they officially declared it was one of their assassins, they have never been enough clues and evidence to prove so. It was actually believed that a Kreatvye spy had infiltrated the Kingdom (what the Commonwealth was known as at the time) and murdered the King in his sleep, with the intentions of making the war what was inevitable to come faster to that the Separatists forces would have to pay the Kreatvye government for supplies, and would be able to take some land for themselves. Separatists decided that now was the time to strike, as the kingdom was leaderless, and were sill undecided if the young prince should take over. Kreatvye and Separatists forces took Montreal with no shots fired, as Montreal was the home of the movement. Kreatvye forces alone assaulted the Virgin Isles and took them within the next month, all 6 islands of the Virgin Isles. The war continued and the Loyalist forces (the delesian army) was pushed back until all that stood was the mainland and the province of Quebec, which was a island fortress of sorts. By this time they Separatist navy was near extinct because of the ever-increasing naval power from the Loyalists Navy. On the joint assault of St. Myhre (in the attempt to finish the war by taking the capital) and Portsmouth (if failed to take the capital, it was a near by fortress to stage another assault) by the combined Separatist – Kreatvye armies there armies where either sunk in the bays while they awaited the order to attack, but were delayed from the confused and crippled command, or killed or captured on the beaches by the over whelming armies that awaited the attack. Now the Separatist – Kreatvye war machine was crippled due to the fact that they had poured every thing in at the time in the assumptions that the Loyalists would not be able to win both assaults, now they were on the defense and was beaten back to the walls of Montreal. The Separatist Provisional government surrendered with a single white flag and the war over. In the attempt to finish the bloody war, and ever coming pressure form the population, the Loyalist command didn’t bother with assaulting the King Leo Island and the Virgin Isles. So when the Separatist government surrendered, the Kreatvye government was not present and kept the Isles with out a fight, because the population of the Kingdom of Delesa didn’t want the war to continue. But until the day the Virgin Isles people were freed, many citizens were involved in local guerrilla warfare against the Kreatvye forces. But now the new Commonwealth government thought the time was right to bring back the Isles to the Mighty Commonwealth and be reunited to its motherland.

Other Reasons

The Virgin Isles, unknown at the peace negotiations for the First Delesian War of Independence, was and still is a floating island above huge oil deposits on the land as well as under the oceans surface. But when reports that leaked through sources from the Kreatvye Geology, stated that vast amounts of oil was found and could and would supply Kreatvye for hundreds of years to come. Well the new Commonwealth, eager to prove that the nation was strong, even after the King had just lost absoulte power to a democratic government.

Another reason possibly the growing tensions between Socialists and Capitalists, and as the war spanned into the 60s and begining 70s, the communist movements where getting stronger as Russia and the US hit a high in the Cold War. But by that time, the Delesian powers were on there relentless march to the Kreatvye capital, and the destruction of the Kreatvye nation.

Also the Delesa had huge suport to start the war and take back the Isles, including military support form the close nation since the First Delesian War of Independence, Azazia, who helped invade the islands, and after had naval vessels watching the seas of the Delesa, ready to pounce on any Kreatvye ships.

The Virgin Isles, it was what Delesa's Government set out to take back, and the first assault was planned for August 4th 1940 (D-Day which means Delesa Day). It took 3 months of hard planning, the commanders of Delesa looked at every objective, every islands strong and weak points, natural harbors and enemy garrisons, airfields, and naval ports. This was all done under General William Wolfe, commanding officer of the Delesa Armed Forces. All the beaches were named after a king or famous duke. They had extra support from the allied nation of Azazia. Most of the aircraft carriers in the Allied navy were from Azazia. But the main assault and most of the casualties came from the Delesa side, but just as bad for Kreatvye forces. On August 4th, the sea was rough and the sea foggy, which allowed the Allied fleet to sneak closer to the 12 beachheads they had to assault (2 on each island), then if there was not any fog, and at 6:25am, the navy guns opened up on the coast, as well as bombers and fighters that bombed sea bunkers and inland strong holds, but the fog proved to be difficult even for the Allies, for the first barrage barely hit anything, and the soldiers, sailors and airmen soon found out. At 7:32am, the first wave of infantry and tanks hit the beaches, but within the hour, almost all forces on the beach were dead or wounded. The Allied soldiers were pinned on the beachhead, and the 2nd wave was sent in, this proved to be more successful then the first, as in some sectors and beaches the forces were able to reach their 1st objectives. But in others like Beach Leo, forces were once again either killed or wounded. Also Kreatvye naval forces arrived to disrupt the Allied efforts, but were beaten back, but they did their damage. But at 12:13 the third wave was ordered to hit the beaches. On all fronts the Kreatvye forces retreated inland, and more and more Allied forces landed to reinforce positions. There is no "official" casualty figure for D-Day, under the circumstances, accurate record keeping was very difficult. For example, some troops who were listed as missing may actually have landed in the wrong place, and have rejoined their parent unit only later. Remember “Casualties” refers to all losses suffered by the armed forces: killed, wounded, missing in action (meaning that their bodies were not found) and prisoners of war. The total Kreatvye casualties on D-Day are not known, but are estimated as being between 5000 and 9000 men. Total Allied casualties on D-Day are estimated at 10,000, including 3500 dead. Delesa suffered 8,552 casualties. Azazia casualties have been estimated at approximately 2700. Casualties on the Azazia beaches were roughly 1000 on Fredrick Beach and the same number on Rupert Beach. The remainder of the Azazia losses were amongst the airborne troops: some 600 were killed or wounded, and 600 more were missing; 100 glider pilots also became casualties. Naval losses for August 1940 included Allied 34 warships and 39 merchantmen or auxiliaries sunk, and a further 220 vessels damaged. They were either sunk by the Kreatyve Navy, or shore naval guns, as well as mines. 11 warships and a further estimated 120 Kreatyve vessels were damaged. And that was only in the first 24 hours of the war, but this will be the most carnage in ine day in the whole war, except for one very sad day in Delesa and former Kreatvye(Cesibia) history.
