The Communist Party of Karuchea is the ruling and only legal party in Karuchea.

The party was founded in 1945 and was in opposition to the Socialist Workers Party which firmly supported the Heins Reich government and the Chinese Revolution. The Communist Party of Karuchea took the Soviet stance in the Sino-Soviet split, denouncing the Socialist Workers Party, the government of Karuchea and China as "ultra-left". The Communist Party of Karuchea picked up annual funds from the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and began to far outgrow the Socialist Workers Party in the early 1960s due to the economic disaray in Karuchea. In 1965, the Communist Party supported the military coup which overthrew Heins Reich and established Muhammed El-Shabazz as the leader of the country. Subsequently, the Socialist Workers Party was banned and the Communist Party of Karuchea as well as the Party for the Islamic Republic and Ba'athist Arab Socialist Party of Karuchea became the legal parties of the country, where the Ba'athists of Muhammed El-Shabazz were always given 2/3 of the seats and the remaining third split between the Communist Party and Party for the Islamic Republic.

In 1992, when Hafez Al-Akim began privatizing the economy, the Communist Party led a series of strikes across the country. Subsequently the Communist Party was banned and had a severe increase in membership because of this. In 2003, the Revolution occured led by Communist Party member and military leader Bashar Al-Mohamet and the political structure began to change with the Socialist Constitution of 2004/2005 and the ideology of Marxism-Leninism becoming enshrined in the constitution. In december of 2004, the Party for the Islamic Republic merged into the Communist Party to form the United Communist Party of the Working Class of Karuchea. In january of 2005, a day before the constitution went into effect, the Ba'athist Arab Socialist Party of Karuchea merged into the UCPWCK to form the United Communist Party which then, a day later changed it's name back to the Communist Party of Karuchea. At the First Conference of the Central Committee, the Party elected Bashar Al-Mohamet as the General Secretary of the Communist Party and Rudolfo Axel Davinson as the Second Secretary.
