The Naval Service of the Community Defence Forces has cruisers which are well armed against subsurface, surface and aerial threats. The ones in the first batch after one hundred million population of Sober Thought is reached are named C-1 through C-6, the second C-7 through C-12, etc. They also bear the names of chartered municipalities throughout the country, repetition being indicated by the used of Roman numerals.
With a total crew of 530 all ranks, the cruiser is the heaviest ship actually built in Sober Thought which is intended for surface-to-surface combat. It can defend itself well enough against submarines, but it is especially capable against aircraft and missiles.
It can serve as the flagship of a group of destroyers or frigates operating alone or as a subdivision of a larger fleet. Its four 150 mm guns are ideal for ship-to-ship or ship-to-shore bombardment, so it may be tasked to support amphibious landings.
