History & key ideas

The Confederalist Communalist Party (CCP) was born in 2136 as a single-platform party. Although it shared the ruling Democratic Communist Party’s core values, the CCP nonetheless opposed the government’s long-standing tradition of strong political centralisation, and argued that a more representative, more genuinely communist society would be achieved through radical devolution of authority down to the smallest local levels. This would mean granting almost complete autonomy to the existing village and city district community decision centres.

Having performed reasonably well in the 2139 election, the party entered talks with the ruling Democratic Communist Party. Subsequently, CCP member John Taylor was granted the position of Adviser on Governmental Decentralisation within the Ariddian Council of Secretaries (Cabinet).

When decentralisation was indeed implemented to the CCP's satisfaction, the party disbanded and fused back into the DCP.
