CE - Confederated Enterprises - is the largest corporation in the Confederation of Soveriegn States and, indeed, the largest in the entire Excalbian Isles. CE began as a steel manufacturer that diversified into electrical engines. This led the company into industrial electronics and then into consumer electronics and, eventually, computers and IT.

As CE grew, it acquired a number of other companies, including Liberty House, the Confederation's largest publisher. Before CE acquired it, Liberty House was the widely respected publisher of several newspapers, a line of non-fiction books and the widely read newsmagazine The Week. After its acquisition, Liberty House expanded into fiction, radio, television and film. Today, Liberty House is a multimedia conglomerate of its own, whose affiliates span the entire Excalbian Isles and neighboring countries.

The Chairman and CEO of CE is John Hayes. Hayes began with company in 1971 as a junior executive. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Vice President of CE's new computer division in 1984. He became President of CE in 1993 and CEO in 1995. He was named Chairman of the Board in 1998. He has also become one of CE's largest stockholders. His former protégé, Thomas Caine, was recently elected President of the Confederation.
