The Coocoostan Junior Hockey League is the highest amateur Ice Hockey league in Coocoostan. The league consists of 16 teams of amateur players in 15 different cities, none of which have corporate sponsorship. The 2006-7 Champion was HC Partisan, who defeated the Coocoobad Eagles 4-3 in the championship game. The Vitogorsk Hornets won the Bronze Medal game over the Ashamkabad Racers 4-2.

The League under the Coocoostan Hockey Federation

The league was also far different under CHF control of the professional ranks, with only 8 teams, 3 controlled by the Coocoobad Red Menace(Then PLAC Coocoobad), as well as two others linked to a CHL team. This caused a great deal of talent to move to the PLAC team, without the others having a chance. However, in 2002-3, the introduction of the draft marked a shift in policy.

The League after 2005-6

After the CHL becoming a corporation in 2006, the CJHL was formed as well, only underneath it, it had two leagues, the Western Coocoostan Hockey League(WCHL) and the Eastern Coocoostan Hockey League(ECHL) The two leagues of eight would only intermix during the playoffs. The markets targeted were those areas with traditional strong support for junior-level teams(Panjuhr Hockey Academy, HC Partisan), arenas wanting more home dates than a CHL or CPHL team alone(Coocoobad Eagles,Kalibad Lakers), suburban arenas(Richman Tigers, South Bay Hawks) and cities without another team (Dynamo Vityazk, Ondakabad Rockets). The formula has worked well, as 15 of 16 teams broke even, or turned a profit. The lone loser was the South Bay Hawks, who have a travel budget twice as high as the other teams, and blamed travel for missing the playoffs.
