The Coocoostan National Police(CNP) is the federal police force of Coocoostan and is responsible for policing the vast majority of the country, as well as acting as a central authority for other police forces throughout the country. Specifically, the territory of the CNP includes all of the Republic of Ondakastan, as well as the Coocoo Autonomous Oblast, Anadahl Oblast, all of the territory that was part of Darrowmere, as well as the Capital Oblast(Excluding Coocoobad and Wajax), The Southern Oblast(Excluding Panjuhr) and the Tudor Oblast(Excluding Starlight City). The only subdivisions of the country that the CNP do not have a street role within are the Aubrey Federal City and San Andreas.

Duties

The responsibilites of the CNP are as varied as the territory it covers. The CNP is responsible for the basic policing of the settlements within the country, as well as its highways and waterways. Furthermore, the CNP acts as park rangers, border guards and also in the country's courts and most prisons, although the latter is being phased out(see history). The CNP is also responsible for Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence gathering domestically.

History

The CNP was formed as a unitary national police force by Maxim Kaygorodov in later 1991 to replace the Soviet Militsiya, which had a poor reputation within the country. While well deserved, this was soon matched by the CNP, although in individual cases, individual incidents were handled very well. This poor reputation, combined with a series of high profile bungles, led to the government of Tammy Hagans making the CNP one of its 10 "Targets for Change" in late 2005. Still, this was not enough, as Coocoobad formed the first city police force in the country. City police forces are due to start in Wajax and Panjuhr on January 1st, 2007. When admitted to Coocoostan, the Aubrey Federal City and San Andreas retained their police structure, while the territory of the former Darrowmere requested CNP officers to supplement its existing police. In 2006 the Bureau of Prisons was formed, with private security guards manning all prisons except the two Maximum Security Prisons in Aubrey and Bluff,OND(South of Ulgava).

Equipment

Air: The CNP operates several Cessna aircraft for aerial surveillance of the country's highways. As well, the force took delivery of 6 Mi-2 helicopters in late 2006 to be used for prisoner transport.

Water: The CNP operates approximately standarized 200 light patrol boats, armed with PK machine-guns and manned by two crew members. They are used for water-borne patrol and transport, as well as a limited Search and Rescue role.

Land: The standard vehicle of the CNP is the GAZ 24, with the CJ5 Jeep for supervisors, as well as Motorcycles, Buses for Prisoner Transport and OT-64 armoured cars for use in border patrol and riot control. The CNP also uses Volkswagen vans for prisoner transport, but these are being phased out.

Weapons: The standard sidearm of the CNP is the CZ75 automatic pistol. As well, the Sa61 Skorpion is also common. Each car is equipped with the FN-FAL Assault Rifle.

Anti-Terror Response Team

The Anti-Terror Response Team(ATRT) is a fixture at all CNP detachments serving more than 50,000 people and in Ambua,WT. They are drawn from outstanding recruits from the Emergency Task Force(ETF) of the CNP detachements, and with permission, municipal police forces. They are armed with the Mp-5 Machine-pistol as well as a smattering of various weapons. The ATRT is charged with responding to terrorist attacks and providing security to threatened areas at a moment's notice.
