The military of the Armed Republic of Costa Bravo is, like many militaries, segregated into various sub-sects of organizational hierarchies, pertaining to their primary function. While most countries share this type of general segregation in their militaries, Costa Bravo is unique in its specific structure. In general, countries have three primary military branches: land, sea and air -- the army, navy, and air force. Costa Bravo, however, has far more.

The Costa Bravo armed forces consists of the Costa Bravo Ground Forces (CBGF), the Costa Bravo Nauticaul Corps (CBNC), the Costa Bravo Aeroforces (CBAF), the Costa Bravo Paratrooper Corps (CBPC), the Costa Bravo Special Forces (CBSF), the Costa Bravo Postmodern Regiments (CBPR), the Costa Bravo Anti-Terrorism Corps (ATC), the Costa Bravo Extraterrestrial Corps (CBEC), and the Armed Intranational Coalition (AIC).

Costa Bravo Ground Forces

The Costa Bravo Ground Forces (CBGF) is the largest branch of the Costa Bravo armed forces and has primary responsibility for land-based military operations. As of 2006, it consisted of 1,000,000 soldiers on active duty, 700,000 in the Costa Bravo National Guard and 800,000 in the Costa Bravo National Reserve.

The CBGF is made up of three components: the active (Standard Ground Forces) component; and two reserve components, the National Guard and the National Reserve. Both reserve components are primarily composed of part-time soldiers who train twice a month and conduct four weeks of annual training each year. Both the Standard Ground Forces and the National Reserve are organized under Title 10 of the Costa Bravo Code, while the National Guard is organized under Title 32 of the Costa Bravo Code. This is due to the latter's later inception. While the National Guard is organized, trained and equipped as a component of the CBGF, when it is not in federal service it is under the command of individual province's ministers. However the National Guard can be federalized by regental order and against the minister's wishes.

The CBGF is led by the Commander of Ground Forces, who reports to the Commander of the Army, who reports to the Secretary of Defense, who reports to the Chief of Staff, the chairman of the Staff Council, the top ranking military commanders from each service who advise the President on military matters.

Equipment

The Costa Bravo armed forces has a long-standing reputation for utilizing the most advanced technologies of modern warfare. For example, since an overhaul of the armed forces in the late '90s, simplistic armor plating and helmets for infantry have been replaced by armored bodysuits and helmets with integrated UI and visor technology. Also, the M4A1 rifle was replaced with the experimental XM8 Multipurpose Interchangeable Rifle, an upgraded and specialized variant of the XM8 Rifle developed and later discarded by the United States Army. Costa Bravo's military leaders, intrigued, adopted the XM8 program and improved upon the design.
