Overview

As of 28/12/05, The Queendom of Crunchy Nuts is an exponentially growing nation, with it's budget expenditure dedicated to maintaining law and order, whilst improving education and public transport, the latter increasingly at the expense of social welfare and equality. Having recently left the United Nations, in a bid to regain sovereignty over her subjects, the recently throned Queen Renna has pushed the country further away from centrist principles, in favour of dictatorial rule.

With the population subsequently spiralling from patriotism into cynicism, Queen Renna's popularity has increasingly deteriorated, with the many peoples' movements and protests suppressed by heavy judicial law. Trade remains adequate despite growing dissatisfaction among the populace, and two recent overthrow attempts of Queen Renna in the past month, yet international relations has plummeted in wake of this political turmoil, prompting Queen Renna to authorise heightened military expenditure.

STOP PRESS! At latest, Crunchy Nuts is an Inoffensive Centrist Democracy.

History

The Queendom of Crunchy Nuts was founded on the principles of augmenting civil rights and political freedoms, often at the demise of economic strength. These were manifested in freedom of religious and party expression, with an close-to-optimal comprise between political correctness and freedom of verbal expression. Upon joining the UN at Crunchy Nuts' birth, the nation soon attained multiple endorsements from fellow Scandinavian regions, who supported its aims to further heighten civil and political rights, tending toward their liberal categorisation of Scandinavian Liberal Paradise or Left-Wing Utopia. With its views correlating with the majority of UN members, Crunchy Nuts wielded its voting rights to see numerous resolutions passed and failed.

However, on the eve of passing a resolution Crunchy Nuts strongly opposed, the nation left the UN, arguing it may still pass UN-friendly laws and regulations, whilst gaining the ability to avoid implementing laws unpopular among its citizens (or more frequently, laws that were unpopular with the Queen). On leaving the UN, Crunchy Nuts slowly diverged from its centrist, or slightly left-wing categorisation, sliding toward dictatorship. With her subjects' dissatisfaction evidenced in riots and overthrow attempts of the Queen, Crunchy Nuts is currently suffering advanced political suppression, killing tourism to the nation.

Geography

Crunchy Nuts’ land historically was shaped as a cornflake, reflected in the traditional currency. However, a costly marketing campaign to reinvent Crunchy Nuts’ image among prospective tourists, prompted the government’s authorisation of reshaping the country into a heart-shape, much to the dismay of environmentalists.

Internal geography, however, has remained consistent. Crunchy Nuts is a mountainous region, height being denoted in the map above by the darker, brown regions, contrasting the smaller light green, sea-level areas.

The nation’s capital, ChocoCity, is populated by a sixth of the nation’s total population, with exponential growth placing increasing pressure on the area’s resources and fellow citizens’ standard of living. Plagued by pollution, and urban migration offsetting job opportunities, many multi-national corporations have relocated as far afield as South Port, benefiting from higher ease of foreign trade. Mountainous towns, in contrast, see low population levels due to below-optimal oxygen levels and fewer job and purchasing opportunities due to difficulty of travel, despite an impressive infrastructure.
