Curiaistan

Origins

Curiaistan was formed when Palacetonian Citizens felt the nation of Palacetonia was getting overcrowded. Dear Leader gave permission for a few settlers to found a new country and emigrate. After settling here and there, Dear Leader ordered Curiaistan to join WWSETI. This was in response to an appeal from Carops who felt that democracy was under threat in that region. Shortly after joining, the word was out that Carops and others had formed a breakaway region called Liberalia. Subsequently, in the interests of stabilising democracy across Nation States as a whole, it was felt prudent that Curiaistan should join Liberalia and work to established the safety of the region.

Next Steps

After joining Liberalia, Palacetonia felt that an experienced diplomat was required to help out. Dear Leader appointed Sarah Quent to be the Senior Aide. Her responsibilities are to oversee the interaction of Curiaistan with Liberalia. Sarah Quent narrowly failed to be elected the ambassador to the NS Centrist Party by the Palacetonian Parliament losing out to Clive Abbott and subsequently chosen by Dear Leader as his personal choice to make up for this disappointment. She is a very controversial character and her arrival certainly ruffled a few feathers link. It only goes to see what will happen next with her but she will not be quiet for long!

Early Activity

Curiaistan joined the Liberal Democrats party in the Liberalian Parliament and subsequently the Liberalian Treaty Organisation or LTO for short. Curiaistan was also appointed to the Liberalian Cabinet as Culture Minister and Regional Heritage minister

A political assassination lead to Four Hectares accusing Gmany of carrying out the assassination from which a failure of diplomacy and tact lead to all out war between the allies and the LTO. The LTO certainly struggled with the overwhelming military might of the allies and lost the war. The Treaty of Bahia Esmerelda concluded the war.

With the subsequent admission of Four Hectares link that Gmany was not responsible for the assassination, the LTO started a Trade Embargo on members of the allies.

What Happened Next

The throwing out of Loslakia led to an election campaign for leader of the Liberal Democrats in which Curiaistan was elected. The party was subsequently renamed The Liberal Party which also has Fernetti as Vice-Chair.

Curiaistan had elections after the death of The President. Sarah Quent, Paul Layde, Lt Col Sadner and Attorney General Raley (who came to prominence with the trial of Elias Strana for crimes in Carops) all stood for election.

After a lot of behind the scenes effort as different nations tried to ensure that their chosen candidate was elected, Raley was arrested for electoral fraud. He was sprung out of prison by people who are now known to be Latagonian special forces.

Sarah Quent was eventually declared the winner after the votes had been counted. Lt Col Sadner withdrew on promise that he would become leader of the Armed Forces.

After a period of relative inactivity in the Liberalia parliament, Curiaistan was chosen as Speaker of the Parliament by Carops. This was after the elections of April which was at the time a dirty campaign leading to accusations of cheating by Julio Trigman. After Julio's defeat in the elections, he conceded defeat and the government took up their posts.

Recently

Curiaistan declared a cold war on Latagon over aggression from Latagon towards Carops over the Carops-Ardalian pact. This has now escalated with Latagon declaring war on the Curia nation.

Curiaistan was elected to the Liberalia Guardian Council. Along with Farlane and Random Textbox Index as Permanents and Nucleawasta as a temporary guardian. The third and final space is subject to a run-off between Fernetti and Soccersian.

Random_Textbox_Input was recently election as Prime Minister of Liberalia, as part of his Cabinet, Curiaistan was chosen to continue as Speaker of the Liberalia Parliament.

Military Forces

The army is divided into ten Corps, each with 10 regiments They are armed with pistols, rifles, machine guns, flamethrowers, tanks, All Terrain Vehicles, helicopters and earthshaker cannons.

The Navy is divided into 5 Battle Groups. Each have an Aircraft carrier called Carthage, Roman, Ottoman, Hittite and Hellenic

The Airforce is split into 6 Squadrons. Five have airplanes and helicopters and one has stealth planes.

The Commander in Chief is Marshall Sadner who first came to prominence with the evacuation of Curia troops off the Gmany beaches during the Great Liberalian War. He is ably supported by Admiral Wend and Air Marshall Troner.

Politics

The leader is Sarah Quent supported by Jenni Bowter. Jenni Bowter took over from Paul Layde who was disgraced over a sex scandal leading to the loss of important papers about oil in Liberalia.

Elections for the Curia Senate happened recently. The results are: Liberal Party: 193 Conservative Party: 67 Nationalists: 20 Socialists: 15 Greens: 5

The Senate Majority leader is Tori Smuk and the Opposition is David Carter of Conservatives.
