Sariais Government Calls for Reform

After Crisconium seized control of Sariais' UN Membership early yesterday, the Sariais government, led by the pro-independence Sariais Party, called for reform in the government and the exclusion of Crisconium from all affairs of the Sariaisian government. For a seventh straight day, widespread demonstrations have occurred throughout Sariais' capital city of Phantonis, set off by Crisconium's veto of the Naval Expansion Bill last week. Crisconium has sent the Crisconium Second Airborne Division to Phantonis to help keep order and control in the city.

EMC Amendments

The Allied States of Crisconium, recently elected to the position of Secretary-in-Chief of the Eurasia Magnus Council, has released the proposals for 4 Amendments to the EMC Constitution. All amendments must be individually ratified by at least two-thirds of both chambers to take effect.

First Amendment

A Deputy Secretary-in-Chief shall be appointed by the Secretary-in-Chief to take over the duties thereof should that nation resign from the position, leave Eurasia Magnus, or otherwise become incapacitated and unable to perform its duties. This appointment must be ratified by a majority of nations in the Chamber of Nations to take effect.

Second Amendment

A Vice-President shall be appointed by the President to take over the duties thereof should the position of UN Delegate become vacant. This appointment must be ratified by a majority of members in the Chamber of Members to take effect.

Third Amendment

Any nation wishing to ratify the Constitution of the Eurasia Magnus Council, and the associated amendments thereof, may become a member nation of the Eurasia Magnus Council without internal approval. Any member wishing to oppose membership must contact the President of the Chamber of Members within seven days to announce their objections and request a vote. Once a membership vote has been requested, the applicant nation may not become a member nation of the Eurasia Magnus Council until the vote has been completed. Should no objection be raised after seven days, the applicant nation shall automatically become a member nation of the Eurasia Magnus Council.

Fourth Amendment

No nations which are linked through a common member may hold the offices of Secretary-in-Chief and Deputy Secretary-in-Chief. Simultaneously, no nation shall hold one of the aforementioned offices should their associated member hold the office of President or Vice-President.

Crisconium Appointment

Crisconium received the position of Secretary-in-Chief for the Eurasia Magnus Council earlier today, after no other applications were made for the position. Crisconium promises to bring forth new amendments to the Constitution so that the EMC can operate more efficiently and quickly.

Widespread Protest in Sariais

Protesters took to the streets today in Phantonis - Sariais' capital city - after the Crisconium government struck down the Naval Expansion Law passed by the Sariaisian government earlier this week. The law, which would strengthen Sariais' navy, was widely popular among the Sariaisian people, and in particular, the expanding Sariais Party; which believes that a modern navy is required for Sariais to attain full independence. The Crisconian government only released a statement affirming its long-time position that "Sariais is a protectorate territory of the Allied States of Crisconium, and we reserve the right to determine the laws of the territories which we control." While the Sariaisian government unanimously deplored the actions of the Crisconian government, they had no official comment pertaining to the protests.
