The Kingdom of Cyonia is a vast country consisting of most of Middle Europe and the British Isles. Cyonia borders the other European powers: Norvden in Scandinavia, Normandy in the west, and Traknia in the southeast. As the geographical and economic center of the Global Organization of Independent Nations (GOIN), Cyonia is the single greatest country in the region.

History

Civil Unrest of 2016

Denmark was under oppressive rule in the early 2000s and into the latter part of the 21st Century until a new figure came into politcal view, Cyrus Zakhar. A young and energetic Dane from Nyborg, Denmark, he persuaded millions of Danish Rebels into overthrowing the central government and King Frederik VIII, long decendant of the royal Frederik's in Denmark's history. After settling into the New Danish Government, Zakhar denied royalty, for the time being, in favor of raising a new empire.

The Idle War

Denmark, being too little of a power against the strong nations of Germany, France, and Great Britain, Denmark laid dormant for two years, through 2018. While remaining under the radar from the other European countries, Zakhar and his Denmark secretly assembled a new military, reassembling the old one and producing more weapons in anticipation of a new war in Europe. In 2018, Denmark made clandestine moves of acquiring more fighter jets, mass transit vehicles, and heavy-armored vehicles from the United States and Russia. Military personnel increased by 220% due to the popularity of Zakhar and his new politcal party, the Neo-Imperial Socialtists.

Pre-War Negotiations

Before Denmark's stockpile reached its peak, Cyrus Zakhar made pacts with 3 other European leaders: Jose Escarnia of Spain, Rolf Lagerfelt of Sweden, and Galen Erasmus of Greece. The agreement included a nonaggression pact between the four leaders and their countries and also an arms pact, which included a restocking option if one nation needed help.

Invasion of Germany, United Kingdom, and France

On October 23rd, 2020, Cyrus Zakhar, Rolf Lagerfelt, and Jose Escarnia initiated attacks on Germany, Great Britain, and France, respectively. Denmark began invading Germany by sending naval blockades to Hamburg and sealing the Danish-German border. Zakhar sent military personnel and artillery into Hamburg and began to flank right across Northern Germany. By possessing villages and smaller towns on the way to Berlin, Escarnia sent his Spanish Air Force into French air space and bombarded Bordeaux and Marseille, transporting troops to said towns, and occupying cities inbetween. Rolf Lagerfelt had already sent in his Royal Navy into the English Channel and the Royal Air Force (RAF) in London and Manchester.

After each leader had sent in their troops into the warzone, Greek leader Galen Erasmus sent his peacekeeping corps into the ravaged cities to ensure order once the invaders move onto another foreign city. While Greece's peacekeeping corps is in the occupied cities, Erasmus builds his army at home awaiting a pending retaliation from another European power, Italy. As a close ally to Germany, France, and Great Britain, Italy is at their call, whether it be help in their own lands or to move on to cutting off one of the invader's sources. Whichever path Italy chooses, Greece will be waiting to pounce.

Occupation Day

With everything according to plan, Cyrus Zakhar and his allies took over the major cities of Germany, France, and Great Britain in less than 3 weeks, including the capitals of London, Paris, and Berlin. The most resistance was found in London, where another Battle of Britain was occuring in the air. Dogfighting between both RAFs were seen day and night, while the Swedish Royal Navy battled the English Royal Navy on the Southeastern coast of England, bombarding Dover into submission, setting up a critical invasion point for the armed forces of Sweden. Spain had managed to send it's forces up the French coast, guarding the English Channel and preventing French forces from aiding their British Allies. Greece has been guarding the borders of France and Germany where Belgium and the Netherlands could be a possible staging point for rebellion. After securing the governmental seats of England, France, and Germany, and the former leaders exiled to other European countries, November 12th, 2020, marked the first day of the occupation of Europe.

Ireland, Belgium, and Scandinavia Fall

After securing the governments of the fallen European powers, Cyrus Zakhar and his comrades looked to close the gaps between the wartorn countries. Sweden, which occupied England and Wales, continued their domination and took control of Northern Ireland and the Celtic Sea, creating a seige of Ireland. After a week and a half of failed negotiations, and continued fighting from English and French rebels in the English Channel, Rolf Lagerfelt sent his Royal Marines into Ireland while encompassing the Irish coast. After Dublin succombed to Lagerfelt's power, the British Isles were now under control, securing a possible threat from idle Ireland and abling their forces to concentrate on the English Channel and France.

Jose Escarnia and Spain pushed past Paris and Lille and into Brussels, Belgium, taking over the weaker control within 24 hours. After successfully securing the Belgium coast, Sweden could now focus their attention into reinforcing and rebuilding London and the other islands, to better prepare for their continued push on the other front.

Once Germany fell, Zakhar had sent his forces from Copenhagen into Norway with Lagerfelt's forces from the Swedish-Norwegian border closest along Oslo. Danish forces went into Norway via boat and landed in Kristiansand, where they met no resistance at all, but instead welcome from the Norwegian people and millitary stationed there. Zakhar sent his forces from the west into Oslo and Lagerfelt's in from the east, crushing Oslo within two days, with minimal civilian casualties. Southern Norway was taken within two weeks, with much of the countryside in favor of the occupation. Once the unbeknownst welcome of troops in Norway was discovered, it only fueled the invasion of Finland, which still had an ailing army since the coup attempt made in 2009. Finland fell within a day, and Scandinavia was under total and complete occupation by Sweden on November 30th, 2020, which only took two and a half weeks.

Leaders Meet in Rome

Exiled leaders from Europe meet in an emergency meeting to discuss the actions of Greece, Spain, Sweden, and Denmark. However, talking was kept brief after learning Erasmus had begun invading the southeastern tip of Italy and Escarnia had penetrated the Italian border from the north. Cyrus Zakhar was regrouping his troops in Bavaria, ready to cross the Alps via air transports, picking up artillery and tanks from the Spanish. Upon learning about the pending invasions, the exiles received a video feed from Copenhagen, Denmark with Zakhar declaring that the "Kingdom of Cyonia", aptly named after him, was commencing their invasion of the Italian Republic, giving the former leaders a 24-hour window to leave the country. The leaders took the window to escape to Israel in hopes of arranging a coaltion to resist the Cyonian oppression.

Spain began the invasion by bombarding Turin, Milan, and Venice, giving the newly formed Kingdom of Cyonia a headstart of driving down into Rome. While Cyonia and Spain came from the north, Greece was pushing through Brindisi and Bari, wasting no time in meeting the other two new powers of Europe in Rome. After Rome was captured, the remaining leaders in the capital were imprisoned and shipped out to Copenhagen under heavy guard.

Europe Reshaped

Portugal surrounded to Spain's unrelentless run through France and Italy, putting up no fight against the new great power of Europe. Once Spain and Jose Escarnia had ensured the safety of its borders and coast with the addition of Portugal, Escarnia renamed his new empire the Dormany Republic. As the revamped nation of Dormany, Escarnia went to Cyrus Zakhar and his new Cyonian country for reassurance on their prior treaty. Zakhar and Escarnia became an historic duo in the world of politics and war, as Rolf Lagerfelt and Galen Erasmus continue their respective battles in their regions.

Erasmus pushed further into Central Europe, toppling the governments of Serbia and Montenegro, Yugoslavia, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Romania. Lagerfelt began invading Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania from the coast of Finland. Cyonia was pushes east towards Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Final Changes Which Formed Modern Day Europe

For the next 3 years, Cyonia, Dormany, Sweden, and Greece fought over the wartorn lands of Europe and how they were going to govern them. Cyonia and Dormany fought over France, while also battling Sweden and Greece for The British Isles and Italy, respectively. Because Cyonia was in the middle of the nations, borders were reshapened every month due to renewed border wars. Since Cyonia had the military superiority in Europe, they were easily able to acquire portions of land to best benefit the nation. The Imperial Military were able to secure the British Isles, most of the western half of France and Northern Italy. Its westernmost border stretches to Russia, from Estonia in the north to the Ukraine in the south, and also includes Central European countries as Yugoslavia and parts of Serbia and Montenegro.

Greece was able to compensate with the rest of southern Central Europe and Asia Minor, including Armenia and Azerbaijan. Dormany was pushed back to the eastern half of France and still has control of Portugal. Sweden encorporates Scandinavia, except for a small disputed area on the southwestern tip of Sweden, where Cyonia took control to apply pressure to the heart of the government to take Britain.

Once most of the border disputes were settled, Galen Erasmus declared his new nation to be known as the Republic of Traknia, taken from the name of a small town in which Erasmus was born, Trychnae. Sweden also declared its new kingdom as the Constitutional Monarchy of Norvden, which is equivalent to the old Norse word, norv, meaning conquest. So by January of 2024, the new face of Europe was imposed on the world.
