The Danaan Modernist Party was a pre-Shattering political party in the Resurgent Dream. It was founded to promote economic modernization, democracy, universal suffrage, secularism and individual rights. The party especially opposed the remnants of the feudal system which remained powerful in the Resurgent Dream until the early 1990s. In the last years of its existence, the Modernist Party also came to be strongly associated with support for Menelmacar in foreign policy and with the development of a strong space program.

During its long existence, the Modernist Party formed two consecutive Governments, that of Lady Juliet ni Gwydion and that of Vincenzo Lacau. By the end of the Lacau Government, the Modernist Party had achieved all of its principle aims. This victory, the near universal assent given to Modernist principles by all political factions by the end of Lacau's second term in office and the enormous disruption to society caused by the Shattering led the Modernist Party to break up into smaller parties concerned with fighting over issues which had seemed of little import to the old Modernist leaders.
