The second of three Emperor's whose short reigns are collectively known as the "Years of Sorrow." Abolished the Council of Lords.

Emperor David I became the third son of Daniel I to ascended the throne following the death of his brother, Daniel II. David's reign proved to be nearly as brief as his brother's. The Emperor died at the age of 53 in a hunting accident after only five years on the throne.

Following his brother's lead, David continued to weaken the powers of the nobility, until he finally abolished the Council of Lords in 1887. This provoked large scale protests from the nobility and threats of rebellion. The noble's rection to David's action has fueled speculation that his death while on a hunt was staged by the nobility. David is believed by many to have been the second emperor in a row to be assasinated by the barons. He was succeeded by his nephew David II, the son of his predecessor Daniel II.

Earlier in his life, then Prince David had scandalized the court in Citadel Excalbia when he married the daughter of the Imperial Chamberlain at the age of 17 and when she gave birth to their first son, who eventually reigned as Emperor Daniel III, that same year.
