Dejan Qordath

Information

Born Helen Meyer, Dejan Qordath led a relatively uneventful life until at the age of nineteen she had a chance meeting with Chengar Qordath. After listening to his plans to reform the government and put an end to corporate abuses she soon became quite impressed with them, and soon began speaking out in favor of them. Dejan discovered that she had a natural talent for public speaking and a highly charismatic personality, and soon she became the most well known advocate for reform, even eclipsing Chengar Qordath himself. On her twentieth birthday she was elevated to the Qordathi, and continued to win people over to the growing rebellion.

During this time she also met her future consort Zenobia, who had actually been an assassin hired to kill Dejan. However, Zenobia was eventually won over by Dejan's charisma, was instrumental in the final success of the rebellion. Once victory had been acheived Dejan withdrew from public life to spend several years in seclusion with Zenobia. Her last public act was to push the council to allow gay marriage, and then along with Zenobia to be the first to take advantage of the new law.

The exact reasons for Dejan's withdrawal from public life are not known, but the generally accepted explanation is that she was simply overwhelmed by the role she had assumed. Additionally she was likely worried by the growing cult of personality around her, and the only time she broke her seclusion was to issue a brief protest when Qordalis' second largest city was renamed Dejanopolis.

After spending seven years in seclusion Dejan returned to public life in response to an attempted coup sponsered by Nurcia. Though she had only sought to restore unity to the nation and then return to seclusion she pressured into reluctantly being crowned as Empress of Qordalis. Dejan eventually grew in to her role, and after being somewhat distressed by her lack of actual power during the war with Nurcia she negotiated with Chengar Qordath and received greatly expanded powers with the creation of the Triad, the three person executive of Qordalis, with herself, Chengar, and Zenobia as members.

Personality

Dejan is warm, friendly, and incredibly charismatic. She has been extremely reluctant about her growing role and powers in the Qordathic government, and despite her natural skills does not tend to see herself as a leader. She is generally calm and placid, and the only time she has ever been seen to lose her temper is with her consort Zenobia, and even then such outbursts are rare and tend to result in lots of apologies and especially nice behavior for some time afterward.
