The Government of Del Riso is slightly complicated, taking it's mold from the Canadian Parliament, and modifying it suit the needs of the country.

The Election Process

To read about the Del Risian election process: Del Risian Election Council

Member of the Legislature

Leaders of the Government

The Legislature of Del Riso is extremely unique, in the fact that in the Assembly there are 3, yes three, Leaders of the Government, all with the same amount of power. Any bills considered for surfacing into the parliamentary chambers must be approved by at least 2 of the LotG's.

Once an election has been held, all Parties which hold seats in the Assembly nominate two members, and the three are chosen in a one-day "meet and vote" session of all three Houses. Only Members of the Assembly (MA) are eligible to become a LotG.

Once chosen, the LotG's must then choose two candidates for each ministry of whom the successful candidate is chosen by all three chambers of the Legislature.

Cabinet Ministers

There are 23 Ministries in Del Riso (see list at bottom of page). When a new Government is formed, all positions must be considered and challenged for. Members of both the Assembly and Delegation are permitted to be ministers.

Each "Minister" becomes a member of the Cabinet and influences the decisions made by the PMs in surfacing a bill.

Member of the Assembly (MA)

Members of the Assembly are all elected representatives from the xx ridings. Only MA's are eligible to become a Leader of the Government.

Member of the Delegation (MD)

In Del Riso, the abbreviation MD following a name means they are a politician. The Delegation is a lot like the US Senate, it's representatives being 4 from each province/region/territory (for a total of 64), and debate bills after they leave the Assembly. MD's are not eligible to become LotG, but can be selected to become a cabinet minister.

Member of the Guild (MG)

Much like the Canadian Senate, or British House of Lords, the Guild is an honoured position which is appointed, and not directly influenced by the citizens. The Guild debates and has final say on any and all bills that pass through the legislature.

To qualify for the Guild a person must:

  1. Be or have been an MA or MD*; and
  2. Have been elected by their constituents for at least 10 consecutive years**; or
  3. Be nominated by any 1 LotG, then approved by 75% of the Combined Assembly and Delegation.
* only MAa or MDs may become MGs
** once the 10 year mark is reached, the member automatically enters the guild: a)upon retiring from the Assembly or Delegation, or b)be unsuccessful in retaining their seat in an election

MGs are appointed for life, but certain circumstances can call for the removal from the Guild.

  1. The MG may remove themself from the Guild,
  2. 2 LotG's may remove an MG with the approval of the cabinet
  3. Fellow MGs may, by a 2/3 vote remove another member of the Guild

NB. There can only be a maximum of 150 MGs at one time, but there is no minimum.
