"Some say that war happens between peace. Some say that peace is the interval between war. Some can't make up their minds. I can tell you that in this galaxy, there is only war, and peace is a never-obtainable state" - Fleet Admiral Connor Grey

Currently Under Construction. It has been suggested that nations such as Ide Jima played a part in the formation of Deltannia. Historians continue to find the line between the mythological creation and the reality.

Start of Civilization

The first civilizations were thought to not have originated where mainland Deltannia is today, but across an ice bridge to one of the islands in the extreme north of Deltannia. It is probable that they originated on the Island of Mathar, where food was abundandt despite the harsher climate. Evidence indicates that these first civilizations lived up there before travelling southward into the region now known as Deltannia today.

Fall of Empires

Currently Under Construction: the list of Empire names must be added in from kept notes.

It has been suggested that the first civilizations, after crossing the ice bridges, began to live a semi-nomadic lifestyle. Later they developed settlements in places protective of the cold, eventually migrating down to what is now Central and South Deltannia for a more optimal climate.

The development of city-states was key throughout this time period. A sense of community was established as these city-states began to grow. Commerce developed between them and the first intercity system was created. As these early city-states grew, they expanded their control over neighboring land. Early clashes resulted in the destruction of certain groups, as well as the thriving nature of others. This pattern was not uncommon during humanity's earliest days.

While the intercity connections continued to grow stronger, alliances between groups formed. The greatest such, known as the Matharan Alliance at one point held every city-state of Deltannia together in a time of peace. Mathar, the single island-state of the origins of Deltannia led this alliance. This Pax Deltannia, however, was short lived. As the other city-states grew stronger, governments began to take hold. Several of the democracies held, but dictatorships usually prevailed. By the time the Empires rose to power, most of Deltannia's territory was taken by one party or another.

As these Empires grew more violent and corrupt, Mathar lost touch with the other city-states and became lost. Deltannia started its long journey through its Dark Ages.

Rise of the Solarian Empire

For main article, see Solarian Empire.

During the Dark Ages, groups began to change radically, possession of land shifting constantly. It was during this time that the city-state of Solaria, however, began to flourish.

Solaria had been a city-state that had held on to its democratic roots, but it grew increasingly corrupt. One of the senators, Tarmenio Flet, began to grow his power core. During a time of great chaos between the city-states, he took command of Solaria and its military forces. On a campaign for glory and power, he began to conquer these city-states one by one. He succeeded in capturing all provinces of the now defunct Matharan Alliance, commanding the greatest Empire known to Deltannia up until this time.

Each successor to the Flet throne began to expand outward, while tightening his grip. Flet IV was murdered and a time of turmoil ensued. The Taael Empire was marked by extreems of violent fanaticism and benevolent peace. This dynasty was short-lived as well, falling to heirs of the Flet Throne.

The last dynasty, of the royal house of San'l, ascended the throne during the Imperial Civil War. The San'l Empire, the longest running throughout the history of the Solarian Empire, soon became corrupt, and a time of change was called upon.

Revolutionary Era

Ideological Revolution

The original Founders of Deltannia realized the necessity to break apart from the various smaller city-states that surrounded the greater area known as Deltannia. Hanthen Blaine of the city-states of Deltannia, known as the main leader of the Ideological Revolution, started a movement to advance the minds of Solaria in science and philosophy. After preaching too many causes dangerous to the Imperial Throne, he returned from his travels across the Empire to Deltannia. Here, however, he continued to inspire the masses against the corruption on their leaders.

Fall of the Solarian Empire

The Solarian Empire, standing through several dynasties, began to crumble under the San'l regime. Too many emperors stood too long with harsh control. Finally, the ideological revolutions turned into militaristic ones, with several city-states rising up against the Solarians.

The closest city-state, Vega, began to draft men from its city and countryside for the hard battle. It began an intense training campaign to fight the Imperial legions head on. The first campaigns were hardpressed, but eventually scored their first major victory at the Battle of Pinia, a small town under Vegan jurisdiction that was saved.

Next in line was Deltannia, the center of the ideological revolt. Blaine began a call-of-arms to protect Deltannia and its surroundings. Because it was further away from the center of Solaria than Vega, its armies were sent to aid Vega along the battlefront. Blaine also suggested an alliance with the city-state of Levana in order to begin construction of a navy, as well as draw support from the Levanese Ancients.

One of the quieter city-states in the revolt, like Deltannia, Chavet sent its newly trained armies to assist Vega, but along a more southern front. By dividng the attention of the Imperial legions, Chavet was able to successfully buy time for Vega to rebuild its armies to entirety.

The last and more secretive of the peoples to support the revolution, the Corridians, a semi-nomadic city-state, sent its army to pillage supplies to the northern areas of Solaria. They also maaged to draw full support from the Levanese Ancients, thus increasing the revolution's manpower greatly. Solaria sent out several legions into the area known as the Central Corridor, but force was repeled at the Battle of the Eastern Hills.

All groups joined together in order to form the Revolutionary Army. This was more of a loose pact between the groups in order to fight the more powerful Empire.

The Alliance of Deltannian City-States

Following the victory of the Revolutionary Army, the Solarian Empire broke down by its city-states. Without the Emperor, the Imperial legions became divided amongst several generals, and had to be defeated indivdually by the Revolutionary Army. Several city-states within the Empire officially broke free, most notably the Seven Kingdoms.

Still led by Blaine, Deltannia entered an agreement with Chavet, a more formal alliance. Vega, Corridian, Levana, the Seven Kingdoms, and several other factions joined together in order to piece together the peoples of the fallen Empire.

The Deltannian Confederacy

Once territory became more fluid between the city-states, Deltannia began to grow much larger. Influenced by Blaine, more people began to migrate into Deltannia. When the Confederacy was announced, the Vegans began to assemble. After much miscomunication, Vega declared a lesser-known war on Deltannia and began to capture its outlying regions. The more powerful Deltannian army began its frontal assault on Vega, defeating its army. From the rear, the newly formed navy was used to blockade shipments. Levana would also no longer support the Vegans when it became apparent that they played a game for control of power.

Vega sent its divided army to both Corridian and Chavet territory to amass as per agreement with the respective city-states under the Alliance. The Alliance broke down, however, in both spots. To protect the hidden Corridian enclaves, the Corridian fores demanded a halt to the movement of the Vegans closer. When this was ignored in order to consolidate more troops, the Corridians attacked the assmebling Vegans. The Vegans were annihilated, and most of the Corridian force was decimated.

On the other side of the Deltannians, seeing that Chavet was closely aligned with Deltannia, Vegan military commanders launched a preemptive strike on Chavet itself, burning it to the ground, but not before its army was severly depleted. The remaining survivors returned to Vega in order to prepare a defense of the main city.

Cut off from outside supplies, with Deltannia's military drawing closer, Vega sent its last reserves to fight outside the city walls. No longer able to hold their position, Vega retreated within the walls, and the Siege of Vega began. Civilians began to evacuate at astonishing rates. Only days later, Vega was penetrated and was razed to the ground.

Creation of Deltannia

Blaine, still the commanding force behind the Revolution, insisted upon the creation of Deltannia based on his ideological movement. Following his command, Deltannia modified its government from city-based to nation-based, adding new offices and positions as needed. Most of the standing army of the Revolution was disbanded, paid in full as per their military contracts.

Just days after Blaine, then the leading Senator of Deltannia, stood at the inception ceremony of the Dominion of Deltannia, he was mysteriously murdered by an unknown assailant. It was presumed to be a Vegan rebel, but was never found. The government began to create a new nation based on Blaine's ideals, and hoping to one day reunite the peoples spread across the region once known in ancient times as Deltannia.

The Deltannian Civil War began on the political stage for control of the nation. The Nationalist Party began as an unknown entity that quickly established power throughout the country, while the Loyalist Party worked toward the defense of the traditional system. Major battles were fought in almost every major city, and the conclusion of the war impacted multiple nations across Europa.

Tarragat Island War

A conflict between the Glorious Dominion of Deltannia and the Dictatorship of Rennd. Length: 294 TU. Battle density: 304.1%

For main article, see Tarragat Island War.

The Tarragat Island War started as a result of increasing aggression from the nation of Rennd in the Byzantine Sea. After pledging to remove oil and natural gas refineries from the island and take it under control, Deltannia stepped in to defend its position, as well as the rights of the corporations there.

Deltannia is a centrist nation (sometimes centrist-left or right) containing the three standard branches of a democratic nation. Because of the tradition of naval history in Deltannia, often, a fourth, smaller branch is consulted, the Admiralty and Naval High Council.

Political Parties

While Deltannia is primarily centrist, there ar ea number of political parties attempting to wrestle control of the government.

Nationalist Party

The origins of this radical party are shrouded in mystery. On two occassions they attempted to gain complete control of the government, first in the Two Ships Incident, later in the Deltannian Civil War. They were said to believe in a much stronger government taking action. They did, however, use terror tactics and were corrupt in their political standings.

Loyalist Party

During the times of crisis against the Nationalist Party, this Party formed as a coalition of ideals. Setting aside most political beliefs, this party's only goal was to keep the democracy of the nation intact.

Imperial Party

This group, while a small minority, influences many right-wing radicals for a return to the ideals of the Solarian Empire. Because of the mass reaction against this, they usually only gain seats in the council in the countryside areas of the remnants of the Empire.

Executive Branch: Senate

The Senate is a 5-person group that takes the form of both regional (within Deltannia) and national command. They are elected for life terms, with certain rules attached. Currently under construction.

Legislative Branch: Council

While having certain executive powers, the 100-person Council is composed of politicians representing all of Deltannia. When elected every X years, they are voted in by districts that are constantly being redefined in order to spread representation of the people. Currently under construction.

Judicial Branch: High Court

This consists of a multi-level judging system. Currently under construction.

Deltannia has a two-part economy considered revolutionary in the modern era. With its own pitfalls of course, the system of Energism slowly took over the capitalist system that had been around since Deltannia's inception.

System Technologies

For main article, see System Technologies.

SysTech is a vital part of the Deltannian economy. It runs as a supercorporation, controlling a large portion of production, as well as research and development. It creates most of what Deltannia uses, from household appliances to weapons to satellites. As part of a binding agreement, it acts as Deltannia's primary provider.

The Navy is the most powerful of the armed forces of Deltannia. Focusing on experimental ship development, as well as building a large fleet or specialized ships, the Deltannian Navy is known throughout Europa to be one of the best fighting forces in the region.

While certainly not as impressive as the Deltannian Navy, the Army is a formidable fighting force in Europa. Enlisting involves intense training for elite soldiers. State-of-the-art weapons are used, including current edition Tactical Assault Rifles (TAR).

Unlike most other military forces, the Deltannian Army adheres to strict standardization in division of command for general infantry (Specialized groups do not follow this rule). Note that this does not necessarily mean that Deltannia's Army must be a total Armmy size. For instance, should there be only 200,000 soldiers total, the Army will consist of only one Corps, led by a Corps General

Deltannia has had a long policy of isolationism. (UNDER CONSTRUCTION:History of isolationism)

Deltannia's isolation was, however, brought to an end by the political rise of Senator Arturo Long. After a stunning election, he began a campaign to push for an alliance with other nations or organizations in Europa. After declaring a summit to determine what would be best for the nation, three major parties attended: Ide Jima and the Alliance, Rekamgil and the Commonwealth of Independent States, Pirilao and the League of the Treaty. It was decided that Ide Jima alone should be allowed to enter a formal alliance, based on its long history of friendship with Deltannia since its inception.

Deltannian/ Ide Jiman Treaty (The Long Treaty)

I). Complete free trade or reduced tax agreement between nations.

II). Deltannian military units can operate out of Ide Jiman soil, and vice-versa.

III). If one of our countries comes under attack, the other will aid them. This does not apply if one of our nations was the original aggressor.

Deltannia's space program began shortly after the first men into space. Satellite launches became common at the start of this era. Several manned expeditions into space occurred afterwards with several different single-use design craft. When the plans for a space station were abandoned, the space program went with it.

Recently, System Technologies, as welll as several other corporations, have teamed up with the Deltannian Space Agency to once again send people into space. The first unmanned non-satellite attempt will be a new telescope to trail earth at the L5 Lagrangian Point in order to gain an unobscured view into astronomical study.

Pushing into the future, Deltannia commissioned the Robotics Guild in order to conduct experimental research in computer and robotics science separate from System Technologies. The government funds several classified projects, as well as public projects to expand the technological boundaries of the nation. Advances in medical systems have been a key area of this, including in the research of nanotechnology. The readily public advances include home operating systems, such as organizer robots, but are not part of the mainstream due to high cost. Perhaps the highest priority of the Guild is to create Artificial Intelligence/sub-Intelligence. The latter would be the definition of more complicated robotics, departing from simple household machines.
