The Democratic Socialist Party of Espara represent the more moderate side of the Island's Socialist politics. They support the co-operative ownership of business, industry and agriculture, and therefore are mostly in agreement with their larger coalition partners, the NPP, over economic policy.
The main ideological difference between the two parties is that the PSD are much more supportive of internationalism. They believe that Espara should take it's place among the other world nations, and seek to spread it's ideals of co-operative economy and popular power to the rest of the globe. The rivalry between these two parties is well known, but their partnership has largely remained stable, primarily due to the threat posed by the opposition PCD/AN coalition.
