Den Bosch is the third largest city in Halandra, the capital of the prefecture bearing the same name, and the heart of Zeeland. The city was founded by Dutch settlers in the early 1800s and named for the pine forests in the wide valley surrounding the town.

Den Bosch, for it's small size, has left a significant cultural impression on Halandrian history: the city is home to three prime ministers, four of the nation's most influential novelists and the nation's most lauded architect. The current Halandrian constitution was ratified in Den Bosch. Today, the city is known for its well-preserved core of colonial architecture, tree-lined streets, and continuing preeminence in Halandra's cultural life.

The city is also home to the vacation residence of the Halandrian prime minister.
