The Racing Republic of Destructo Bill is a huge, socially progressive nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 983 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Commerce, and Education. The average income tax rate is 52%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Pizza Delivery.
Expensive lawyers are hired to defend citizens in court for public urination charges against their pets, small businesses are gobbled up almost daily by corporate giants, hunters have been known to lose limbs while attempting to 'play tag' with their prey, and the nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal then most battlefields. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Destructo Bill's national animal is the Trunk Monkey and its currency is the Cubic Dollar.
