General

In the place of present Differ was founded a village named Dörfl. Its name was later mutilated to Differ. The only livelihood was glassmaking and depasture. 1993 were Noumoond, Risieer, Wentes connected to Differ and now form a compact town. Differ was influented by its former French owners, especially by Bourbons.

Present

After the foundation of Newtegenish republic Differ started to develop. Mostly tourism, because there were built a sports centre at the foot of Tevielberg, including two ski jumping hills (K-120 and K-185, the largest in Neeutegeen). As well were built new accomodation centres, modern houses and hotels. The old glasshouse serves as a museum.

Traffic

A very important and frequented road (I/11) goes through the town, more accurately through Noumoond. In a place called "Bij Muit" by Korzën crosses I/11 another first-class road I/14. In forests, three kilometres from Differ is situated a border checkpoint Differ-Wissembourg. Differ´s railway station is placed in forests in nobodyland cca. four kilomters from the city center. An improvement should be made, but it is utopic. The biggest passengers transportation volume ensures bus traffic. Local and long-distance bus lines terminate in the square.
