Richard "Cancer Man" Fitzgerald, S.J.D., D.S.Sc., LL.M.il, LL.M.cj, MA.ps, M.P.A., is a mysterious individual within the nation of Laurasia. He was formerly the Secretary of Defense for the U.S. Department of Defense as well as the former Secretary of Defense for the Federal Republic of Canada. Currently considered a mystery and "god-like" figure to the Laurasian people - only surpassed by Father - who only know him as "Cancer Man".

History
Fitzgerald was born to an upper-middle class family in Minneapolis, Minnesota in April of 1945 to William and Kendal Fitzgerald. He was brought up in a managerial, Democratic, Protestant family. He was taught that he should help those less-fortunate than himself. Yet, signs during grade school showed his unwillingness to fit with those he considered inferior. Schoolyard bullies were under his thumb. His intelligence gave him an advantage over the "ignorant masses" as he titled them.
During the final years of his primary education, Fitzgerald's open willingness - and some may say want - to oppress began to diminish from the scornful eyes of his teachers and family. He joined his secondary education with what appeared to be a new outlook on life. He never lingered in a single cliche, he mostly mingled around the social groups. An observant individual could - at times - note that this was a tactic to get his way in whatever relative field necessary.
Fitzgerald continued to advance his education and intellect. He far surpassed most students during his later years in secondary education. He did, however, grow bored relatively quickly with the tediousness of normal education. Thus, in his sophomore year, Fitzgerald was placed in Saint Mary's Private Institute for Gifted Youth - a private Catholic school north of Minneapolis in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
After graduating high school, Fitzgerald was accepted into Princeton University and obtained a Doctorate in Social Sciences, Master's of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration. After graduating, he attended Harvard University's School of Law and received further education including: a Doctorate in Judicial Science, Master's of Law in International Law, and a Master's of Law in Criminal Justice.
While attending law school, Fitzgerald came into contact with a high school student from Coon Rapids that was interested in some of Fitzgerald's political writings. The student, named Josh Latimer, and Fitzgerald became relatively close friends. During Latimer's senior year of high school, Fitzgerald lost contact with him due to his disappearence. He would not come in contact with him for many years.
By age thirty-one, Fitzgerald had obtained the status of Secretary of Defense within the U.S.A. under the Nixon administration. During this time, Soviet agents contacted the Secretary and proposed to him an unknown deal. Not much information is currently know about the Fitzgerald-Soviet dealings; however, what is known is that Fitzgerald served as a mole in the White House for the Soviet government.
During the slow decline of power and the fascistization of the United States in the late '70s and '80s, Fitzgerald fed feeds of information to the Soviets on an almost daily basis. Finally, during the last days of the Soviet-American War, it is suspected that Fitzgerald ordered the firing of American nuclear missiles on American cities and military installations in order to soften the country. It is also suspected that Fitzgerald is responsible for allowing the lone gunman to assassinate Ronald Reagan in 1985 causing the U.S.A. to collapse into anarchy.
During the late '80s and early '90s, Fitzgerald traveled the conflicting states avoiding both American loyalists and Mississippian rebels who believed he could endanger their newly created federation. In the mid-90s, the Canadian Republic offered him a seat as Secretary of Defense. This final opportunity gave Fitzgerald a way to leave the running world to that of power in the inevitable future.
As Secretary of Defense, Fitzgerald served as yet another mole for the Soviets, aiding them in secret programs involving the Arctic regions and Northern Passage. He also leaked locations of secret military installations and programs to the Soviets before fleeing to Moscow in February 2006. Approximately one week before the Soviet Reformation, flight records show Fitzgerald leaving Vancouver to Cuba, Peru, and finally Moscow. In February 2006, Canadian officials monitoring the creation of Laurasia saw footage of Father and Fitzgerald in Eutopia. This tipped off the Canadian government as to him being a mole; yet, due to his location, acting on this information is impossible without war.
Fitzgerald currently serves in the Inner Party of Laurasia and is a suspected member of the Council. However, no information proving or disproving this rumor has ever been discovered.
Controversy
Secretary of Defense of the United States
As it is known, as Secretary of Defense for the United States, Fitzgerald leaked information to the Soviet government about facts and programs to subvert and undermine Soviet authority. Yet, no actual information or hard evidence of exactly what was leaked is known. Most believe it involves: psionic technology, harmonic suppression, long-range electro-magnetic weaponry, and alternate means of flight. Some believe that long before Fitzgerald was part of the DoD, he was a member of the WISEMEN working for the Soviet government and Delta Green.
Secretary of Defense of the Canadian Republic
As Minister of Defense, Fitzgerald stole information and sabotaged programs within the Canadian military and economy. He is suspected of causing over four hundred deaths of military personnel, the death of three hundred civilians, and a near economic recession in the Federal Republic. It is known that the Canadian administration wish to obtain Fitzgerald for treason and crimes against humanity, yet it is not likely to occur.
"Cancer Man"
Due to unknown reasons, the populace of Laurasia (outside of the Inner Party) do not know Fitzgerald's real name. He is simply referred to as the "Cancer Man" in both publications and open tongue. The reason for this is obvious: his smoking. Even though smoking is "banned" within the Inner Party, Fitzgerald smokes nearly every minute. Thus, he is suspected to either have lung cancer or will soon have it; this gives him the title "Cancer Man."
