DunkelSchloss

Dunkelschloss, which translates into Dark Castle in English, is a gothic castled located in the Mikitivity canton of Valitz in the Thuvian mountains. The isolated site has been the home of numerous fortresses since around 1200, and is the traditional seat of the Eckstein family. Rumoured to be the staging grounds for many campaigns into Miervatia and other cantons, Dunkelschloss has been destroyed and rebuilt on numerous occasions.

Today the castle is still owned by the Eckstein family, but is open to visitors from September through December, before the snow makes travel into Valitz too difficult for most traffic. The Ecksteins no longer live in the castle, citing the presence of the long departed, including the late Dr. Eckstein. The castle is constantly undergoing repairs. It is currently listed as a World Heritage site.

On All Hallows Eve, the Eckstein family invites many international guests to spend the night in their ancestral home promising all of their guests an encounter or two of the spiritual kind.
