The Rogue Nation of East Akershus

Prefectures

East Akershus is divided into three prefectures:

Government

The goverment of The Rogue Nation of East Akershus is extremely democratic, in spite of the fact that the supreme leader is above everything else.

  • Supreme leader: His Former Majesty and Emperor, The Great President Grim, Esq.
  • Minister of Aviation: Louis Bleriot IV
  • Minister of Railway: Pete "Caboose" Tucker
  • Minister of Information: The Great Slartibartfast
  • Minister of Education: Cheswick the Sage
  • Minister of Juxtaposition of Interrelationships: Mr. Dale Harding
  • Minister of mental affairs: Dr. John Spivy, M.D.
  • Minister of rest and recreation: Pete Bancini
  • Minister of wave propagation: Christiaan Huygens XII
  • Minister of Finance: My pet aardvark

Federal offices

East Akershus is the home of the federal Evilbrainian office of cartography. A Beech Queen Air is used for aerial photography.

Education

Education is a key part of The Rogue Nation of East Akershus, and is backed up by a promising book publishing industry.

Tuition is nearly free for citizens, and the fees for foreign students are also quite insignificant.

Scenery, flora and fauna

Our main source of power are our hydroelectric dams. Such plants are highly discussed for their environmental and visual impact. We have therefore hired famous architects like Renzo Piano to design our plants, and we have made sure that there are bypasses for the fish to migrate.

The Aardvark is our national animal, which feeds on our population of turmites and Langton ants. Other animals include wolves, deer, badgers and beavers. In our rivers people can catch pike, trout, bass, and Chinook salmon, and our wetlands are largely populated by heron, stork, wigeon and mallard.

Our forests are made up of fir and maple trees, with sweet-smelling bird-cherry trees along the riverbanks. Deep in the woods one can also find a lot of herbs and mushrooms, filling the woods with a fresh, musty and even heady smell, which attracts many townspeople into the woods during the weekends.

Leisure activities

General Aviation is a major lesure activity in East Akershus. AVGAS is government-subsidied, and this also goes for flight tuition.

Aerodromes are scattered all over the nation, and one can more or less constantly hear the nice soothing drone of an old piston overhead.

The nations fleet of vintage aircraft is substansial, and the Douglas DC-3, Saab Safir, and the legendary Piper Cub are some of the favourites in the nation.

47% of the population above the age of 16 have the Private Pilots License. 63% of the population above the age of 14 are licensed to fly gliders.

The Party Liner DC-3 is also based in East Akershus.

Freshwater fishing is also extremely popular, however the quantity of fish being caught has never really matched up to the beer consumption on these trips.

Household pets like cats and dogs are not any more uncommon than in most countries, however the domestication of aardvarks for pets is strictly controlled, and you must have a license in order to keep one. Artificial stuffed aardvarks, though, are not uncommon valentine's day gifts for the girls and some of the boys in East Akershus.

Transportation and Industry

As mentioned above, the private sector is lead by the book publishing industry. Following closely is the airline and aerial taxi business.

The trains, on the other hand, are old and steam driven. A speed limit of 110km/h has been imposed on all land vehicles in order not to threaten the airline industry.

Laws

Environment

The Rogue Nation of East Akershus is well know for its beautiful scenery and it's frolicking population of aardvarks. To keep it neat and clean we have the following laws:

  • All steam engines must have catalysers installed, and may only be disengaged for public displays, as the thick smelling coal smoke is part of the experience
  • Littering is punished with electroshock therapy
  • All cars must follow strict emittance standards, and it's generally preferred to use air or rail transport.

Other

  • Alcohol and marijuana is legal in the homes of EA citizens, as well as restaurants with proper permissions and on domestic flights and international flights were the destination country allows it. No vehicle or heavy equipment may be operated under the influence of any recreational substance. Shrooming is generally confined to the elderly, especially those living in eeirie old cottages in the woods, and are left alone by the law enforcement agencies.
  • Immigration laws are strict, but neutral
  • We don't have prisons, but the healthcare sector takes care of criminals by placing them in criminal mental asylums were they either agrees to become better persons, or get copious amounts of electroshock therapy
  • Those who commits drunk and disorderly on vessels registered in East Akershus (callsign EA- for aircraft) are generally thrown in the brig, but the commander of the vessel may do whatever he/she feels like or finds amusing.
