Ei Ðinnia Ā Ðēmēa, Xaštahoa Ixā

Ei Ðinnia Ā Ðēmēa, Xaštahoa Ixā is the former national anthem of the Most Serene Republic of Baranxtu. It functioned as such from 1860 until 2006. It is based upon an older poem by Manyaian poet Unárie Milátai Santé.

The Poem

The original powm was written in 1802, and is in the Manyaian language. It consists of more than 34 stanzas, of which only the first two shall be given:

Manyaian
Temüla daskrú mi-bálik’y,
Genámetum asedéni’üa,
Sáyenim krísim rúrur’üa,
Gataziti kho alamáze,
Mi-turásh’üa.

Temüla, kasht'üa say
Hyesáβim onáret'üa,
Rángiam kumula asagai
Pim-hη médrim mi-konolémit'e,
Pim-hη ňadurei.

English
I happily call upon my siblings,
To embrace the splendor,
To love the colorful sky,
A raspberry in the hand,
We rejoice.

Siblings, come and
See the liberty,
The colors of the seasons
This land I call home,
This land of freedom.

The Song

In 1833, Baranxtuan composer Silhari Negutreitu Masuhagi rewrote parts of the second stanza of the poem and created a soft and sweet melody. The song was comprised of only one verse:

ei ðinnia ā ðēmēa, xaštahoa ixā
xõ hēigaf rumapjenaf,
madru hãmītu,
raŋetuja āfilētu,
xienrētu, vãndrytu,
mashatu.

The Anthem

When it was made the official anthem in 1860, the melody was a little changed to sound more heroic and awe inspiring. The text, however, remained the same.

In 2006, it was replaced by Ma Baranxtu as national anthem.
