Moodiqa (Arabic: مودقا) officially the Emirate of Moodiqa, is an emirate of the United Federal Kingdom of St Samuel, located north-west on the Pellina Island. It is bordered by the Emirate of Al Salma and the Emirate of Shadiaq. The capital city is Lanacus.

Moodiqa has a population of 19.4 million. The majority are Arabic-speaking Sunni Muslims at 74% of the population. Other Muslim groups include Alawites 11%, Druze and other Muslim sects 5%. There are also various Christian sects constituting 10% of the total population. Moodiqa's current Emir is Nasir Al-Ghawrî, who was installed after The Second War of Greater Holdinia.

History

For ancient history see the Pellinese Empire.

Moodiqa was an Emirate of The Pellinese Empire between 2000 BC to 1200 AD. It's borders have remained unchanged since 954 BC when the council of Elders of the Pellinese Empire divided the empire into 19 Emirate's ruled by local warlords. Moodiqa was awarded to Ardashir Homashiaz, a legendary Pellinese warrior.

Around 1205AD, Shah Muhamed of the Pellinese Empire called for an army to be raised and asked all the Emirates to send 10,000 men each to fight the Emirate of Samah Island, who had declared itself independant of the Pellinese Empire. The Moodiqan Emir at the time, Omar Abu Shakra, raised an army of 15,000 foot soldiers and 5,000 cavalry in support of the war against Samah Island. But it was only Moodiqa, and the Emirate of Shadiaq and the Emirate of Maleeqa that showed support for Shah Muhamed. This prompted Shah Muhamed to call for all the Emir's who failed to provide soldiers to be arrested and executed, which in turn sparked the War of the Pellina Island Succession.

Emir Abu Shakra raised a huge army of over 100,000 men and attacked the Emirate of Al Salma and the Emirate of Hassia. The Moodiqan warriors fought valiantly, but were beaten by superior numbers. The Moodiqan's were held at the Al Salmanian borders where they fought a number of pitched battles. They faired somewhat better in Hassia, where Emir Abu Shakra, himself led his army. The war lasted three months, only ending when Shah Muhamed and his family were killed by Emir Jamal Al Baqara of the Emirate of Salehstan. Upon hearing that the Shah was dead, Emir Abu Shakra ended his attacks on Hassia and Al Salma.

On March the 18th 1206, the 19 Emir's of the former Pellinese Empire met at Intisar (Emirate of Makaoui) and the Treaty of Intisar was signed by all 19 Emir's granting independence to the Emirates.

Recent History

On the 13th of June 2007 the Emirate of Shadiaq, the Emirate of Moodiqa, the Emirate of Maleeqa, the Emirate of Sherfidan and the Emirate of Salehstan formed the Arab Alliance of non-aligned Nations (AANAN) in order to oppose those Arab countries that had shown allegiance to St Samuel. AANAN soon allied themselves with Southern Holdinia and sent 25,000 millitia men to Stevens Bay, to fight against the Jordini Muslims who they believe had turned to St Samuel in The Second War of Greater Holdinia.

By the 9th of July 2007 St Samuel and allied forces invaded Moodiqa which led to a month long war. Nasir Al-Ghawrî, leader of the Moodiqan People's Movement (MPM) allied himself with St Samuel and fought against Moodiqan government forces. By the 6th of August 2007 with St Samuel and MPM forces fighting government forces in the capital Lanascus, President Khalid Al-Rewaniyah of Moodiqa surrendered to St Samuel forces.

On the 25th of November 2007 Moodiqa was named by St Samuel as a federal emirate of the United Federal Kingdom of St Samuel and Nasir Al-Ghawrî was named as the new Emir of Moodiqa. After the surrender of President Al-Rewaniyah to St Samuel forces, his younger brother and head of the Moodiqa Army, Tariq Al-Rewaniyah, went into hideing and set up the Moodiqan Mujahideen Rebel's (MMR), who's sole aim was to rid Moodiqa of the Christian infidels and St Samuel sympathisers.

Since Moodiqa was named as an emirate of St Samuel, the Moodiqan Mujahideen Rebel's have continued to fight Emir Al-Ghawrî and St Samuel forces in a guerilla war.

Moodiqan Mujahideen Rebel's

The Moodiqan Mujahideen Rebel's insurgency denotes groups using armed resistance against the St Samuel-led Coalition occupation of Moodiqa. These groups may also resist the newly created Moodiqan government. The fighting appears both as a resistance to occupation as well as a civil war in Moodiqa among the diverse groups in the population.

The MMR is made up of a loose alliance of groups and organisations, who fight each other as much as they fight St Samuel forces. The groups include the Moodiqa National Guard (MNG - Former government special forces loyal to Al-Rewaniyah), the Moodiqa Red Communist group (MRC), Association of Sunni Jihadist's (ASJ), the Mahdi Army of Moodiqa (MAM - Shia rebels) and the Jamaat Ansar al-Sunna (JAS - Army of the Protectors of the Sunna). Tariq Al-Rewaniyah claims to lead and speak for all these rebel forces, but in reality only has control of the MNG.

Government forces continue to fight these rebel forces, who employ tactics such as guerrilla warfare, ambushes, terrorist attacks and sabotage.
