Imperial History

Pradian earned the dubious title "The Weak" not because of any policy mistakes but because of his physical apperance, he was extremly thin and an albino. Pradian was allergic to sunlight and during his reign he hardly left the Palace of the Moon (which was destroyed during the War of the Four Thrones). Pradian was also the only Emperor in the history of the Empire to of never married during his entire reign, only recently has it been discovered from surviving diaries and letters that Pradian was also a homosexual and had taken several secret lovers during his reign, unlike the later Emperor Cameron V (The Butcher) who was gay but married a woman anyway, Pradian couldn't bring himself to even marry for the sake of his image.

Pradian's policies and management of the Empire was sound, but it was his personal dealings and his scheming relatives that would be the downfall of the Garnet Dynasty. Pradian was a devout Purifier and had several Temples refurbished and ordered the construction of the Grand Temple of the Unknown Gods (now the site where Rystal Emperors and Empresses are crowned). Pradian was a popular Emperor for his times and very few people hated him, even fewer people knew him.

But in the end Pradian was killed by an assasin, the story put out at the time was that the assasin was sent by a member of the royal family who was seeking the throne for himself. But a new theory says that this story is a cover-up and the real killer was one of Pradian's male lovers who grew jealous of the attentions the Emperor was giving other lovers. The truth however is forever obscured by the veil of history.

After Pradian's death the Senate could not decided on who should ascend to the Golden Diamond Throne and the Empire fractured into five different dominions. This time period is called the War of the Five Kingdoms.
