The Most Serene Republic of Enthalpy Change a nation on the south coast of The Spectrum sharing land borders with Undracor, Sabrateur, Daveanoyl Chloride and with Sherylannia and White-Rose across the Synaptic Gulf. Being one of the older nations of the region Enthalpy Change has the distinction of being the first ever UN Delegate for the Spectrum. Despite being usurped from this position after about a week Enthalpy Change still has a significant political influence in the region as it is one of only five nations to have a permanent seat on the Spectrum Security Council.

History

Enthalpy Change was given its current physical boundaries at around 400AD when the numerous different regions and there people were united under the rule of Tristan the Green, after the Romani empire had left the country. Since this time, give or take a few miles the land or the acquistition of an island, the physical nation of Enthalpy Change has never really been in doubt. Since the Romanis have left Enthalpy Change, the country has developed at a similar way industrially as it's neighbouring nations. The country was ruled under the Green dynasty for 427 years, until the First Civil War of Enthalpy Change (827-834), after which Enthalpy Change was declared a republic ruled by a three member directory. The country was in still in anarchy at this stage and the directory was becoming increasingly reliant upon the army and so, inevitably, four years after the civil war the country was ruled by a military dictator Bono Noparte. After his downfall Enthalpy became a democracy for a while.

People

Enthalpy Change is very cosmopolitan in regards to people living there. Many different ethnic groups live side by side, mostly in harmony, between one and other. The largest ethnic group is Enthalpian (82% of the population) but there are is also a significant Undracan (usually frowned upon), Sabratese and White-Roseite population living in many of the nations big cities. The average citizen of Enthanlpy Change is fiercly patriotic, fluent in both official languages and drives an energy efficient car.

Government

Every Enthalpy Change citizen over the age of 17 has the right to vote, insuring they are not serving a prison sentence and are of sound mind. Elections are held, at a maximum of, every five years and the peoples representatives (MC's) are elected to represent their duristiction in the 700 member House of Chemists. The nation's current leader Derek Asamoah is now in his second term as first minister and is also leader of the Liberal Chemocratic political party.

Geography

Enthalpy Change is an environmentally stunning yet flat nation, with a large peninsula in the south. The peninsula is rich in terms of sandy beaches and this area is the main attraction for tourists to Enthalpy Change.

Sport

Enthalpy Change takes only one sport seriously and that is Football. Basketball, Cricket and athletics all are taught at school but they are much less encouraged than the national sport. Enthalpy Change is home to the famous Hydrogen League and also a prestigous cup competition the Proton Cup. Enthalpy Change also has strong pride in its national team which usually gain automatic qualification to the Spectrum Cup. The national team play in green and yellow hoops with home games taking place in the Stadium of Esvonert, which has a capacity of 130,000.
