Erinava is a Kiravian colony.

Geography

Erinava occupies a large portion of coastline and substantial areas inland. The shoreline is rocky in some places, but in many areas opens up to sand. The climate is Oceanic Moist, and heavy precipitation allows for a variety of trees, bushes, and herbaceous plants to grow.

History

Seirm Novân's expedition discovered Erinava near the end of their voyage. Novân's scientists took many samples of the native plant life, which led the Empire to beleive that the land would be good for agriculture. Nitrogen-rich, fertile alfisols greeted the first Kiravian colonists when they arrived. A small famring colony was set up, and became as succesful exporter of agricultural products to nearby nations. Shipping, fishing, and aquaculture soon eclipsed land farming in importance as Erinava became a maritime power. Today, this remains the same, although inland farming has become very prosperous, and is gaining in profits by selling to Kirav.

Culture

Erinavans are very close to the sea, both geographically, and culturally. Days commeorating the changes between spring and neap tides, and the beginning of fishing seasons, are official holidays. Driftwood, seaglass, and pearls are important materials in art, and Erinavan music hearkens back to the sailor's ballads of the olden days.

Government

Erinava has a local governmetn led by an Imperial governor. Municipal and Judicial positions are filled by Elections, whereas administrative positions are filled by the Empire. The Erinavan education system is also seperate from the Empire's. The colony is divided into 7 territories, with no administrative power. Territories are divided into countyships, which are divided into the individual settlements within them.
