Her Grand Ducal Highness Duchess Ernestine (Ernestine Anne Louise Meissen née Wettin) (born 1946), styled Her Royal Highness The Duchess, is the wife the Duke Theodor II of Saxe-Nassau-Siegen and daughter of Grand Duke Ernst III of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Background

Duchess Ernestine was born in 1946 at Schloss Rosenau, her family's country estate. She is the oldest of eight children; she has four sisters and three brothers. As the oldest daughter, Ernestine was doted on by her parents and exceptionally trained for the role of royal consort which she was expected to one day assume. One piece of trivia about the Duchess is the fact that she and her sister Josephine bear an uncanny resemblance to each other. The two have often been mistaken for the other.

Marriage and Children

Princess Ernestine was matched to Prince Theodor in 1962 for an arranged marriage. The wedding too place in 1964 just after she turned 18. The match proved to be a good one; over the years Ernestine and Theodor have grown inseparable. Duchess Ernestine has had issue.
