Cabinet

Prime Minister
Franco Belovich

Franco Belovich is one of the older members of the Cabinet, and has the most experience in government. His first position was Governor of Valua, in which he was elected for two consecutive terms. In these terms, Franco successfully enacted a series of controversial issues, which gave same-sex couples the opportunity to marry. It was the first city in Euroslavia to allow such a thing. The rest of the nation followed soon after, and within Valua, Franco was deemed the "Sponsor of Equality for All" throughout the land.

Minister of State
Sarah Greyson

Sarah Greyson is one of the most respected members of the Cabinet. Her voice is one of reason and wisdom, hence why she was put into the position in the first place. Sarah was nominated for the position when Lady Destra ascended to power back in 1994, and was the first female Minister of State in the history of Euroslavia. Her most recent diplomatic summit with the entirety of Congress was used to promote a more united stance within the government, for the nation as a whole. Soon after, Congress passed new measures to relax the tariffs placed on trade with foreign powers. A new Free Trade agreement with the closest of allies to Euroslavia is in the works, in which Miss Greyson will travel to the foreign territories to discuss such an agreement with the appropriate representative.

Minister of Defense
John Capers

The appointment of John Capers was one of the most controversial nominations, in recent times. His support of the Communist regime, before Lady Destra came to power, was one of the dominating factors in the opposition to his appointment to Minister of Defense. After a few press conferences, and the "Trial of Ministers", in which each Minister is questioned about their beliefs and policies, John proved himself worthy to Lady Destra herself, to become the next Minister of Defense.

Minister of Energy
George Alfonso

George Alfonso is one of the few foreigners within the government of Euroslavia. His nomination to Minister of Energy was somewhat controversial, though did not make nearly as much of a hypothetical uprising as the appointment of John Capers. His recent activities as the governor of the Nasr region, which is one of the least populated regions in Euroslavia, have greatly improved the standard of living in the area, through efficient ways of developing energy, and reducing pollution by almost 155% from that last decade. His energy reform policies are continually moving Euroslavia ahead in time, when it comes to pollution it causes. The spread of efficient nuclear energy was mostly his idea, in which he lobbied to Congress for. To this day, Mr. Alfonso continues to advocate safer ways of saving energy, as well as proposing ways of rewarding those who conserve energy.

Minister of Agriculture
Terry Loggins

Approximately 100 years ago, Euroslavia was a nation that failed to create the technology to even think about becoming a reliable agriculture-producing nation. Back then, it wouldn't have ever been predicted that Euroslavia would grow to become one of the worlds leading producers of corn, wheat, barley, and other minor products. Terry Loggins was one of those men that promoted the enrichment of the soils across Euroslavia, which were previously known for their rough exterior, and their lack of minerals. This project, under the Minister of Agriculture, continues to this day, and is currently working in the south-eastern region of the nation.

Euroslavic History

Early Times

In the 12th century, a group of people known as the Slavs arrived in south-eastern Europe. There were many different classifications between these people, but the two main separations were the Euroslavs and the Asiatic Slavs. These two moved to the region now known as Yugoslavia. At the time, the region was looking for a dominant leading nation due to the downfall of the Roman Empire, and at one point, the Bulgarians, including both classifications of the Slavs, fought to take control on the region; however, the rising Ottoman Empire proved too much for them. For the next 200 years, the entire region of south-eastern Europe remained under the tight control of the Ottoman Empire. Slavs were forcibly converted to Islam or executed. At this point, the Great Slavic Genocide took place, where it was believed over four million Slavs were executed for refusing to convert to Islam. Considering the population at the time, it was believed that the Slavic people were all but extinct. A few thousand remained spread across the Ottoman Empire, in hiding. Most of those remaining decided to flee the Empire towards the Germanic tribal areas.

A Growing Nation: Slavs vs Austria-Hungary

In the 16th century, the Ottoman Empire began to battle with the Austro-Hungarian Empire from the north, with south-eastern Europe being the main battlefield for the two major powers. The Ottoman Empire repeatedly pushed its forces to the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, only to fail at sacking the capital itself. This was the shining moment for the Slavic people, which voluntarily joined the Austro-Hungarian army at the news of the lightning fast advances of the Ottoman Empire into their territory. If the Slavs were going to fall under Ottoman Empire rule, there would be no telling what would happen this time. It would have been likely that the Slavs would have ceased to exist, if the invasion were to have been successful. Fortunately, history was looking upon the Slavs in favor, and aided them, as well as the Austro-Hungarian Empire in victory over the Ottomans, and over the next 300 years the Ottoman Empire was finally expelled from the south-eastern part of Europe. Here, the Austro-Hungarian Empire began to cease as much territory as possible with the newest thread from the east, the Russian Empire. The Kingdom of Serbia was slowly growing power in south-eastern Europe, and both the Austro-Hungarians and the Russians were looking with their greedy eyes upon this young kingdom. Whoever would take control over the Kingdom would take control over the entire region. Both Russia and Austria-Hungary launched invasions against the Kingdom, but Austria-Hungry succeeded in taking control of the region first, while battling the Russians for it, despite no formal declaration of war.

Under the Austro-Hungarians: Into the 20th Century

With the control of the region, Austria-Hungary began to assert control over its own populace at the beginning of the 20th century. It enacted strict rules against minorities, mainly the Slavic people, which caused much of the population to become upset. Eventually, riots began in Budapest, and were violently suppressed by the forces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but not without notice. At this point, a southern section of the Austro-Hungarian Empire moved to secede from the nation. This section of the Empire was secretly supported by Russia and Britain for independence. The nation desperately seeking independence was known as Euroslavia. It had fought oppression for the past 500+ years, and was now seeking to create its own empire where they wouldn’t have to worry about being put down, or made the minority. Euroslavia would be a nation of many people, working together to form a nation of equality, justice, and peace, which was valued by every single Slavic person. Euroslavia sought out alliances with Britain and Russia, and through a short five years of war, it finally gained its independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

A Free Nation: Euroslavia is born

It was on July 21st, 1906 that Euroslavia finally gained its true independence. The first democratically elected President of Euroslavia, which led the nation into a new age was President Ramus Lockstein. He was elected three times in a row, in which each term lasted 8 years. Through the First World War, Euroslavia supported the Allies, and through it all, gained territory from the menace that was still the Austro-Hungarian Empire. At the end of the War, Austria and Hungary were split apart, leaving much for the Euroslavic people to rejoice. In the 1930s, the nation itself fell into a civil war, along with most other nations in Eastern Europe, and became an official Communist nation, with the former President being killed in a terrorist attack upon the legitimate government of Euroslavia. The Communists, aided by the Soviet Union, took power in Euroslavia, and held it until the late 1980s, when the rest of the Communist nations under the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact began to crumble. A new revolution took place, establishing a demi-dictatorship into power, with the first female leader, Lady Destra, maintaining power. Her control over the nation has stayed at a moderate level, while still upholding democratic values.
